MAY 04 2022 - QUNTY ; CLERK ERVISORS April 29, 2022 To the Maricopa Board of Supervisors, | just received your letter postmarked April 22 which outlines the estimated tax for this district. The proposed tax is more than fair and will raise enough to easily cover the cost of most needed repairs. | realize many people do not want to pay the first penny of property tax for any purpose, but this is a fraction — a tiny fraction -- of the cost of major or minor repair to an aging irrigation system. We all must understand the need to conserve the water we are allotted and maintenance is vital to this conservation effort. Please approve our request to form a water district for our neighborhood SRP irrigation system (DON JO ACS). It is the only way to ensure adequate funds are available for maintenance and repairs and to ensure all users pay their fair share of those costs. The current system of passing the hat is not working well for us, especially as repair costs rise and maintenance is deferred. The lack of a standing fund means maintenance is deferreduntil a dire situation arises. Deferred maintenance means more water is wasted. Lack of a funded water district also means many who benefit from the system refuse to contribute to the maintenance putting an unfair burden on those who do follow the rules and contribute. We chipped in $600 a few years ago and paid $200 for repairs on our lot and another down the line. | wish we had been paying the tiny bit of extra property tax all along! The tiny annual contribution is nothing compared to the cost of a major repair. We cannot too strongly emphasize the need for this district. Please approve this for the benefit of all in our area. We are 100% in favor of this district. AM, . Vz BAN. Sharon Maher Mullican and John Mullican 1019 W. 6" St. Mesa AZ 85201
