D R A F T MINUTES HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION SPECIAL VIRTUAL MEETING JULY 8, 2025 4:00 P.M. Present: Timothy Quinn, Chair Theodora Hackenberg, Vice Chair Elaine Gomez, Commissioner Brian Gustafson, Commissioner Larry Rovey, Commissioner Willow Taylor, Commissioner Bryon Joyce, Member Also Present: Duane Hoskins, Principal Planner K. John Kazmerski, Recording Secretary 1. CALL TO ORDER Chair Quinn called the virtual meeting to order at 4:10pm. 2. WITHDRAWALS AND CONTINUANCES There were none 3. STAFF REPORT a. Discussion and Consensus of the 2025 Ruth Byrne Historic Preservation Award Chair Quinn asked for discussion of the two nominees. Vice Chair Hackenberg asked if the commission could vote for both nominees. Mr. Hoskins stated the verbiage used in this year's nomination form would only allow one recipient. Commissioner Gomez requested the verbiage be changed for next year. Mr. Hoskins replied that staff would change the nomination forms to accommodate more than one recipient. Chair Quin called for a motion and consensus on the nominees. Motioned by Commissioner Larry Rovey, seconded by Commissioner Willow Taylor to nominate Martha Cole AYE: Chair Timothy Quinn Vice Chair Theodora Hackenberg Commissioner Elaine Gomez Commissioner Brian Gustafson Commissioner Larry Rovey Commissioner Willow Taylor Member Bryon Joyce Passed 4. CITIZEN COMMENTS There were none. 5. COMMISSION COMMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS Chair Quin asked the commission for comments or suggestions. Commissioner Gomez suggested the two nominees be part of the upcoming bus tour. 6. NEXT MEETING The next regular meeting of the Historic Preservation Commission is scheduled for September 25, 2025 at 4:00 p.m., at the Development Services Office, 5754 W. Glenn Drive, Glendale, Arizona, 85301. 7. ADJOURNMENT Chair Quinn called for a motion to adjourn at 4:35 pm.
