D R A F T MINUTES PLANNING COMMISSION SPECIAL WORKSHOP COUNCIL CHAMBERS 5850 W. GLENDALE AVE. GLENDALE, ARIZONA 85301 DECEMBER 2, 2021 5:31 P.M. 1. CALL TO ORDER Chairperson Crow called the meeting to order at 5:31 p.m. ROLL CALL Present: Chairperson Crow, Vice-Chairperson Nyberg, Commissioners Crow, Wilfong, Nowakowski and Heath Excused Absence Commissioner Cole City Staff Present; Tabitha Perry, Interim Planning Manager, Jamsheed Mehta, Director Developement Services ,Diana Figueroa, Recording Secretary 2. ITEM Chairperson Crow called for items REQUEST FOR COMMISSION INITIATIVE 1. Tabitha Perry made staff presentation. 3.700 Zoning Ordinance, reinstate sections inadvertently removed from the ordinance while doing a text amendment adoption of 2006. Request to reinstate several subsections that were inadvertently omitted when City Council approved the amendment to Board of Adjustment appeal process. Urgency is based on the compliance with state statute as it relates to Board of Adjustments and Public hearings. Also, Findings I(special circumstances and or conditions) and II(due to the special circumstance a strick application of the zoning ordinance would deprive property of privileges enjoyed by other) used by the Board of Adjustments when making decisions on variance applications. Ms. Perry asked for a consensus to move forward to bring an application before the Planning Commission for a formal review and recommendation to staff. Planning Commission gave unanimous consensus to move forward 3. COMMISSION COMMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS Chairperson Crow called for comments there were none 4. NEXT MEETING The next regular Workshop of the Planning Commission is tentatively scheduled for January 27, 2022, at 5:00 p.m., in the Council Chambers, Conference Room B-3, located at 5850 W. Glendale Ave, Glendale, Arizona, 85301. 5.
