HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION GLENDALE CITY HALL CONFERENCE ROOM 2A 5850 WEST GLENDALE AVE GLENDALE, ARIZONA 85301 JANUARY 23, 2020 4:00 PM CALL TO ORDER Chairperson called the meeting to order at approximately 4:00 PM. ROLL CALL Chairperson Tim Quinn, Leslie McConnell, Larry Rovey, Theodora Hackenberg, and Willow Taylor were present. Commissioners Absent: Vice Chairperson Sharon Wixon, and Mickey Lund. CITY STAFF Lisa Collins (Planning Administrator), and Samantha Cope (Administrative Assistant) were present. CITIZEN COMMENTS: No citizens were present, so no citizen comments were made. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Ms. McConnell moved to approve the May 23, 2019, meeting minutes, and Mr. Rovey seconded the approval. All were in favor and none opposed. WITHDRAWALS AND CONTINUANCES There were no withdrawals or continuances. ITEMS A. 2020 CENSUS OUTREACH- Jenna Goad was unable to make the meeting. Lisa Collins, Planning Administrator gave a presentation about the upcoming census. B. INTRODUCTION OF ZONING REWRITE- Lisa Collins, Planning Administrator gave a brief overview of Zoning Rewrite which is being completed by Michael Baker International. They are at the very beginning stage, more information to come later in the process. OTHER BUSINESS Chairperson Quinn was wondering if staff could create a tri-fold handout of the structures within the city that are on the National Historic Register. Also inquired about a walking tour of the old town Glendale. Ms. Collins suggested it may not have happened due to a financial issue, and a staff reduction. Mr. Rovey suggested maybe a page on the website instead of a tri-fold. STAFF REPORT-None. COMMISSION COMMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS- January 23, 2020 Historic Preservation Commission Minutes Page 2 2 Ms. Taylor inquired about a mold issue at Sahuaro Ranch. Chairperson Quinn suggested talking to Park and Recreation, or her council member. Mr. Rovey mentioned that the 30th Antique Tractor Show is coming up on February 8th & 9th at Sahuaro Ranch. ADJOURNMENT The meeting was adjourned at 4:38 PM. NEXT MEETING The next meeting will take place May 28, 2020, at 4 PM.
