Amendment #1 
to the Agreement between the Town of Carefree 
and Maricopa County on behalf of the Sheriff's Office 
C-50-23-207-X-01 
 
 
 
This Amendment to the Agreement between the Town of Carefree (“Town”) and Maricopa 
County (“County”) on behalf of the Sheriff’s Office shall be effective on October 1, 2024 and 
upon approval of the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors and the Town of Carefree. 
 
 
 
Recitals 
 
 
The County acting on behalf of the Sheriff’s Office and the Town entered into an Agreement for 
Law Enforcement Services (the “Initial Agreement”), executed June 28, 2023 (C-50-23-207-X-
00). 
 
Amendment #1 is presented to amend Section II.A. Service Provision of the contract, (C-50-23-
207-X-00), and to update Worksheet Exhibit A to increase the supplemental traffic enforcement 
to a full year (1.0 FTE). 
 
The parties agree to change the Initial Agreement as follows, all other terms and conditions of 
the Initial Agreement remain in place. 
 
 
 
Amendment 
 
Section II. Services, Subsection A. Service Provision is amended to add the following: 
 
4.  Priorities of Optional Additional Services.  District personnel performing an  optional 
 
service, such as supplemental traffic enforcement, may be utilized to respond to, 
 
stabilize, investigate, resolve, or finalize higher priority calls for service (priority 1)  
during their shift as necessary.  Normal absence from coverage will also occur for 
vacation, illness, and training time as required.  Other gaps in coverage due to issues 
such as staffing shortages or administrative leave will be back filled as soon as 
possible.  Priority for staffing will be the Patrol Deputy contracted for the Town of 
Carefree.   Any absence for the Traffic Car due to staffing shortages and/or 
administrative leave that is more than 2 weeks will be credited back to the Town of 
Carefree.
