Mesa Public Schools Governing Board approved a levy to correct a cash shortfall in our 
Maintenance and Operation (M&O) Fund.  Going into fiscal year 2024, our M&O carryover 
budget balance was $42,676,571; however, our ending cash balance was $35,020,028.   
 
Here is information about our request for the additional cash levy: 
 
Governing Board Approval Date: June 25, 2024 
Amount to Be Levied:  $7,656,543 
Cause of Shortage:  Assessed valuation lower in prior year (difference between when tax rate 
set and later levied); delinquent tax collections
