A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A GRANT AWARD FROM THE GILA RIVER
INDIAII COMMUNITY'S STATE SHARED GAMING REVENUES TO
MARICOPA COUNTY F'OR ARIZONA YWCA METROPOLITAN PHOENIX
OWN IT FINANCIAL EDUCATION
WHEREAS' the Gila River Indian community (the "community,,) is a federally
recognized Indian tribe and sovereign nation; and
WHEREAS' the Gila River Indian community council (the ,.commrurity council,,) is
the legislative goveming body of the Community; and
WHEREAS' the passage of Proposition 202 by the voters of Arizona in November 2002
set the sfage for a new gaming compact between the State of Arizona and
the Community, including a provision for the sharing of gaming revenues
with the State of Arizona; and
WHEREAS' the community has entered into a fully executed compact with the State of
Arizona providing for gaming within the Communityf and
WHEREAS' the compact allows that up to twerve percent (r2o/o) of the community,s
state-shared revenue can be retained by the community for distributions to
cities, towns, or counties for govemment services thai benefit the general
public; and
WHEREAS, the community counc , as an exercise of the community's sovereignty,
decides ttre manner in which those funds distributed to ciiies, to*ns,--i
counties should be disbursed so as to improve the overall quatity or ilre or
residents of Arizona; and

paid by October 25, 2020 and by October 2 5, 2021 to Maricopa County for

EXTRICATION MODULE SUPPORT APPARATUS
WHEREAS, the Gila River Indian Community (the "Community") is a federally
recognized Indian tribe and sovereign nation; and
WHEREAS, the Gila River Indian Community Council (the "Community Corurcil") is
the legislative goveming body of the Community; and
WHEREAS, the passage of Proposition 202 by the voters of Arizona in November 2002
set the stage for a new gaming compact between the State of Arizona and
the Community, including a provision for the sharing of gaming revenues
with the State of Arizona; and
WHEREAS, the Community has entered into a fully executed compact with the State of
Arizona providing for gaming within the Community; and
WHEREAS, the compact allows that up to twelve percent (12%o) of the Community's
state-shared revenue can be retained by the Community for distributions to
cities, towns, or counties for govemment services that benefit the general
public; and
WHEREAS, the Commturity Council, as an exercise of the Commrmity's sovereigrty,
decides the manner in '*trich those funds distributed to cities, towns, and
counties should be disbuned so as to improve the overall quality of life of
residents of Arizona; and
WHEREAS, the Community Council has reviewed a proposed application from Maricopa
County, AZ for Daisy Mountain Fire and Medical Rapid Extrication Module
Support Apparatus.
NOW,THEREFORE,BEITRESOLVED,thattheGilaRiverlndianCommunity
desires to support this proposal for a term ofone year and hereby approves
agtantintheamountof$80,943.00(EightyThousandNineHundredForty-
Tiree Dollars) to be paid by octob er 25,2020 to Maricopa county for Daisy
