Resolution FCD 2020R004 Page 1 of 2 When Recorded Return to: Contracts Branch Flood Control District of Maricopa County 2801 West Durango Street Phoenix, AZ 85009-6399 RESOLUTION FCD 2020R004 2020 FLOODPLAIN MANAGEMENT PLAN Agenda Item: __________________ WHEREAS, the Flood Control District administers the National Flood Insurance Program’s Community Rating System for unincorporated Maricopa County and is required to update the Floodplain Management Plan for unincorporated Maricopa County every five years; and, WHEREAS, the Board of Directors of the Flood Control District on November 18, 2015 adopted Resolution FCD 2016R001 (C-69-16-012-6-00) for the “Floodplain Management Plan 2015”; and, WHEREAS, the development of the 2020 Floodplain Management Plan (FMP) is an update of the Floodplain Management Plan 2015, and was based upon input from a committee that included staff from the Flood Control District, other county agencies, several incorporated communities, non-governmental organizations, the business community, and members of the public; and, WHEREAS, the FMP serves as a five-year guideline for the Flood Control District to address flooding issues, develop specific public outreach, improve loss reduction measures, consider beneficial functions of floodplains and management of open space, identify areas with flood risks, work with stakeholders and provide Regional Leadership; and, WHEREAS, the FMP has been made available to the public, stakeholders, other jurisdictions and agencies for their review and comment; and, WHEREAS, the Flood Control Advisory Board of the Flood Control District endorsed the FMP on September 23, 2020, recommending to the Board of Directors of the Flood Control District that the FMP be adopted. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Directors of the Flood Control District approve and adopt the “2020 Floodplain Management Plan”; and, Resolution FCD 2020R004 Page 2 of 2 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of the Flood Control District is authorized to implement the FMP as feasible for unincorporated Maricopa County, continue to engage with the FMP committee, and as appropriate to work with local communities, non-governmental organizations and the business community to apply the FMP’s goals and action items throughout Maricopa County.
