Na Maricopa County Library District July 1, 2020 Valerie Beckett Assistant County Manager Maricopa County 301 W Jefferson Street, 10" Floor Phoenix, Arizona 85004 Dear Valerie, This letter is to inform you of my upcoming retirement as Director/County Librarian of the Maricopa County Library District. My last day at MCLD will be September 1. For sixteen years, nine of those as Director, I have had the honor to work with County leadership and the MCLD staff to provide the residents of Maricopa County outstanding library service. We have set a course of excellence that has characterized MCLD as not only library leaders in Arizona, but nationally. When I first began promoting MCLD as the “community front porch” my goal was to create a supportive, innovative and engaging culture with exceptional customer service. We have accomplished just that and so much more. It is overwhelming to sum up all of MCLD’s accomplishments, but I do want to highlight how instrumental and appreciated the support and guidance from County leadership, as well as the Board of Supervisors has been. I am grateful to have had the opportunity in setting the high standards on how library services reach our community and I am confident MCLD will continue to innovate and inspire.
