Maricopa County Board of Supervisors
RESOLUTION EXTENDING THE CONDITIONS OF APPROVAL BY THE BOARD
OF SUPERVISORS, PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION, BOARD OF
ADJUSTMENT AND ADMINISTRATIVE APPROVALS BY THE PLANNING AND
DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT BETWEEN MARCH 1, 2020 AND DECEMBER 31,
2020 FOR PLANNNG AND DEVELOPMENT AND CONSTRUCTION PERMIT
APPLICATIONS IN UNINCORPORATED MARICOPA COUNTY
BE IT RESOLVED by the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors as follows:
WHEREAS, Governor Douglas Ducey declared a state of emergency due to the
COVID-19 pandemic for the State of Arizona on March 11, 2020; and,
WHEREAS, with Executive Order 2020-12 the Governor of the State of Arizona
identified planning and development and construction permitting as essential
services necessary to promote the public health, safety and welfare; and
WHEREAS, Maricopa County is committed to full compliance with all applicable
federal and state laws and regulations and enforcement of such as may be
required; and
WHEREAS, Maricopa County is further committed to protecting development rights
and providing regulatory relief to residents and businesses during this
unprecedented time in order to support economic stability, recovery and growth.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors
directs the following:
This Resolution supplements and expands Resolution C-44-20-109-M-00 adopted by the
Maricopa County Board of Supervisors on April 22, 2020.
Any condition of approval, except approvals of preliminary plats, by:
a. The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors,
b. The Maricopa County Planning and Zoning Commission,
c. The Maricopa County Board of Adjustment, or
d. The Maricopa County Planning and Development Department
that established or establishes a deadline or other timeframe with a critical date between
March 1, 2020 and December 31, 2020, shall be granted an extension at no cost for one

(1) year from the date of expiration of the original deadline or timeframe upon written
request to the Maricopa County Planning and Development Department provided that the
property (or properties) is not in violation of any Maricopa County laws, code, regulations
and/or ordinances.
The expiration date for approved preliminary plats with expiration dates between March
1, 2020 and December 31, 2020 shall be extended for two years from the original
expiration date.
New preliminary plats approved between March 1, 2020 and December 31, 2020 shall
remain valid for three years from date of approval.
Nothing contained in this Resolution shall be interpreted or deemed to extend any time
periods that have resulted from a Code Enforcement Action by the Maricopa County
Planning and Development Department. The Planning and Development Director will
evaluate and grant extensions to code enforcement deadlines on a case-by-case basis.
ADOPTED by the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors, Maricopa County,
Arizona, this ____ day of August, 2020.
