BOARD OF SUPERVISORS The Board of Supervisors of Maricopa County, Phoenix, Arizona, convened in Special Session at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, in the Supervisors’ Conference Room 301 W Jefferson, 10th Floor Phoenix, AZ 85003, with the following members present: Jack Sellers, Chairman, District 1; Thomas Galvin, Vice Chairman, District 2 (remote); Bill Gates, Supervisor, District 3; Clint Hickman, Supervisor, District 4 (remote); Steve Gallardo, Supervisor, District 5. Also present: Juanita Garza, Clerk; Mia Vargas, Minutes Coordinator; Jen Pokorski, County Manager; Brooke Worcester, Legal Counsel (remote). ACTION 1. APPOINTMENT FOR LEGISLATIVE STATE REPRESENTATIVE DISTRICT 11 Pursuant to A.R.S. § 41-1202, receive the names of the three qualified electors as candidates to fill the vacancy for the Legislative District 11 State Representative seat as submitted by the Legislative District 11 Precinct Committeemen and appoint one of the candidates from the list to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of State Representative Marcelino Quiñonez. The three candidate names submitted by the District are: Junelle Cavero Harnal Michael D. Butts Lisa White (C-06-24-681-X-00) Chairman Sellers read the agenda item Appointment for Legislative State Representative District 11 and asked for a motion. Supervisor Gallardo thanked Chairman Sellers for placing this item on the agenda and his colleagues for taking their time in attending. He noted Legislative District 11 encompasses most of the south Phoenix, parts in Laveen and the Town of Guadalupe. Supervisor Gallardo thanked all three candidates for submitting their names and going to the Legislative process. He acknowledged one of the candidates for being present, Special Meeting Minutes Tuesday, April 16, 2024 Page 2 of 2 Michael D. Butts. He mentioned the other two candidates Lisa White and Junelle Cavero Harnal. He spoke about the Legislative process in selecting a candidate.
