RESOLUTION REGARDING APPOINTMENT OF SHAWNIE PATTERSON AS 
THE INTERIM MARICOPA COUNTY PUBLIC FIDUCIARY

WHEREAS, the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors has established the Office of 
Public Fiduciary pursuant to A.R.S. §§14-5601; and,
WHEREAS, the Office of Public Fiduciary shall, among other things, serve as guardian, 
conservator or administrator for whom no person or corporation is qualified and willing to 
act in such capacity; and, 
WHEREAS, the Office of Public Fiduciary is responsible to preserve and protect property 
of a deceased person when heirs or personal representatives cannot be determined or 
located; and, 
WHEREAS, the Office of Public Fiduciary is responsible to protect the legal rights and 
financial interests of vulnerable adults; and,
WHEREAS, the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors seeks to appoint a Public 
Fiduciary to serve as the Maricopa County Interim Maricopa County Public Fiduciary,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED on this day, the Maricopa County Board of 
Supervisors appoints Shawnie Patterson to serve as the Interim Maricopa County Public 
Fiduciary and Principal, effective June 1, 2020, with all the powers, duties, and obligations 
provided in Title 14, Chapter 5 of the Arizona Revised Statutes, subject to the relevant 
and applicable certifications contained therein.
