Impaired Driver Related Warrant Details
MCSO requests funding for overtime to complete impaired driver related warrant details.  The overtime 
funds will be used to complete intel work-ups and attempt to locate and arrest suspects with warrants 
related to impaired driving. The warrant details will be conducted in the following manner: 1) receive 
newly issued warrants from MCSO Criminal Process Section, 2) run information from warrants through 
computer databases to help determine most accurate home and work location possibilities, 3) separate 
warrants based on geographic locations and/or importance, 4) two person detective units respond to 
identified locations to attempt to locate the individual with the warrant, and 5) if the individual is found, 
then arrest and book them into jail.   
 
MCSO will  work with the County Attorney’s Office to identify repeat offenders.

Maricopa County currently has thousands of felony and misdemeanor warrants outstanding related to 
persons driving while impaired by alcohol and/or drugs.  These numbers include individuals who were 
involved in non-injury to fatal traffic collisions, or arrested by law enforcement officers during DUI task 
forces or just routine patrol.  The individuals with these warrants routinely fail to show up for court 
appearances and/or do not complete the terms ordered by the court.  Some of the terms include paying 
fines and fees, providing restitution to victims, attending alcohol or drug treatment classes, or following 
probation guidelines.     
 
 
Many of the suspects listed in these warrants are repeat offenders who are regularly putting the public 
at risk by continuing to drive on public roadways while impaired, uninsured or with suspended and/or 
revoked driving privileges.

The overtime will be used to target suspects with impaired driver related warrants. MCSO will 
conduct at least eight separate warrant details throughout the year.
MCSO VCU will arrest over twenty suspects during FFY 2021 with funds utilized by GOHS.

Funds will be used for Personnel Services (Overtime) and Employee Related Expenses (ERE) to conduct

These details are necessary to arrest persons with impaired driver related warrants to improve the safety
