Jefferson, 10th Floor, Phoenix, AZ 85003, with the following members present: Clint Hickman, Chairman, District 4; Jack Sellers, Vice Chairman, District 1; Steve Chucri, District 2 (entered late); Bill Gates, District 3 (entered late); Steve Gallardo, District 5. Also present: Fran McCarroll, Clerk of the Board; Joy Rich, County Manager; and Andrea Cummings, Legal Counsel. Minutes compiled by Maria Ceaglske, Minutes Coordinator. ACTION County Attorney 1. MELENDRES V. MARICOPA COUNTY, 16-1661 (9TH CIR.) AND 18-735 (U.S.) Approve the Settlement in the amount of $185,000 between Maricopa County and Plaintiff(s), in Melendres, et al. v. Maricopa County, Arizona, Case No. 16-16661, concerning 9th Circuit Court of Appeals and U.S. Supreme Court No.16-16661. Authorize the Chairman to sign any necessary documents upon review and approval as to form by assigned legal counsel. This item was discussed in Executive Session on Dec. 9, 2019. Pursuant to A.R.S. §42-17106(B), approve the transfer of expenditure authority in the FY 2020 budget as follows: a. Decrease the expenditure budget for Non Departmental (D470) General Fund (100) Non Recurring Non Project (NRNP) “Unreserved Contingency” (4711) line by the amount of $185,000. b. Increase the expenditure budget in the Non-Departmental (D470) General Fund (100) MCSO Judgment Order Non Recurring (MEL1) in the amount of by $185,000. EXECUTIVE SESSION Vote to convene in Executive Session to consider items on the Executive Agenda dated January 27, 2020, for Board of Supervisors and relevant Special Districts pursuant to statutory authority listed for each item.
