Mrs. Juanita Garza

Clerk of the Board of Supervisors
301 W. Jefferson

Phoenix, Arizona 85003

Dear Mrs. Garza,

First and foremost, | want to thank you and the entire Clerk's office for your hard
work on behalf of the Board of Supervisors and our constituents. It's been a

great experience to work with all of you and | am grateful for your assistance to my
District 2 office.

It’s hard to believe | have been involved in Arizona politics now for 28 years. When |
first ran for Maricopa County Supervisor in 2012, | campaigned to bring civility,
innovation and most importantly, a business mindset to government making it “Best
in Class”. We got off to a wonderful start and have had many successes.
Successes that | will always be proud to have played a role in. It has been my
pleasure and honor to serve with my colleagues and the dedicated employees of
Maricopa County. Moreover, serving my constituents, problem-solving and leading
for the past nine years has been both enjoyable and fulfilling.

Unfortunately, the political landscape changed for the worst this year. The
environment is wrought with toxicity - and civility and decorum no longer seem to
have a place. In this current environment, good people are not permitted to focus on
the jobs they are elected to do. | have often said that public office doesn't complete
me and am taking a stand against this toxicity in politics today. | hope this action
serves as a demonstration of this belief.

Effective November 5, 2021 | will resign my office as Maricopa County Supervisor,
District 2.

Sincerely,

oar nea

Steve Chucri
Maricopa County Supervisor, District 2
