Associated Maricopa County Strategic Goal: Regional Services Comments: Meeting the needs of Maricopa County residents by providing additional sources of water, enhancing their outdoor experiences at McDowell Mountain Regional Park. 9. Please provide a detailed description of the initiative, including the public benefit, areas served, and population served (please attach separate page if more space is needed): McDowell Mountain Regional Park has seen an average attendance increase of 7.1% over from FY20 through FY23. With increased attendance, the availability of clean drinking water at Trailhead Staging Area will benefit hikers and their pets. Three trailheads are located at Trailhead Staging Area, including McDowell’s longest and most difficult trail, Pemberton. Multiple trails link off of Pemberton on its 15.3-mile loop around the Park. 10. Please disclose if there are other current requests for funding related to this initiative and any previous awards of CSF within the past two years: There are no current funding requests, or previously awarded CSF funding related to this initiative at McDowell Mountain Regional Park in the past two years. Please discuss, if applicable, the source and type of funding that will be needed to sustain the initiative after CSF have been spent: Parks will incorporate any additional water usage into our normal operating fund. The department will also utilize normal operation funding to maintain the drinking fountains for public use. 12. Please attach a budget proposal detailing the use of all funds. The budget proposal should include the account level detail for uses and estimated timeline. The budget proposal should be broken out by year for multi-year projects. a. $41,797.10 Purchase of 3 water fountains (Chilled, Bottle Filler, ADA and Pet Bowl) i. Vendor advised 10-to-12-week lead time b. $31,934.60 Installation of 3 water fountains, including concrete pad(s), electrical and plumbing connections Acknowledgements By signing this proposal, Administering Authority acknowledges the responsibility of oversight of expenditures associated with public funds, including ensuring that each purchase is a necessary and prudent expenditures of public funds.
