Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month 
 
May 2026 
 
WHEREAS, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders have made significant contributions to the 
cultural, economic, scientific, educational, and civic life of the United States and the City of Tolleson; 
and 
 
WHEREAS, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders represent a rich diversity of cultures, 
languages, traditions, and histories that continue to strengthen and enrich communities across the 
nation; and 
 
WHEREAS, generations of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders have helped shape the history 
and progress of our country through leadership, innovation, military service, entrepreneurship, 
public service, and advocacy; and 
 
WHEREAS, Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month provides an opportunity to 
recognize and celebrate the many achievements, traditions, and lasting contributions of Asian 
American and Pacific Islander communities; and 
 
WHEREAS, the City of Tolleson values diversity, inclusion, mutual respect, and the contributions 
of all residents who help make our community vibrant and strong. 
 
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Juan F. Rodriguez, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of 
the City of Tolleson, Arizona, do hereby proclaim May 2026 as Asian American and Pacific Islander 
Heritage Month, and encourage all residents to recognize, celebrate, and honor the history, 
culture, and contributions of Asian American and Pacific Islander individuals and communities.
