Older Americans Month 
 
May 2026 
 
WHEREAS, older adults play an important role in strengthening families, neighborhoods, and 
communities through their wisdom, experience, volunteerism, and civic engagement; and 
 
WHEREAS, the City of Tolleson recognizes the many valuable contributions older Americans 
have made and continue to make to the cultural, economic, and social vitality of our community; 
and 
 
WHEREAS, Older Americans Month provides an opportunity to honor older adults, highlight 
the importance of remaining connected and engaged, and promote programs and services that 
support independence, health, and quality of life; and 
 
WHEREAS, communities that value and support older adults help create opportunities for 
individuals of all ages to thrive, remain active, and live with dignity and respect; and 
 
WHEREAS, the City of Tolleson encourages residents to recognize the achievements and 
contributions of older Americans and to strengthen efforts that foster inclusion, connection, and 
support for aging adults in our community. 
 
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Juan F. Rodriguez, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of 
the City of Tolleson, Arizona, do hereby proclaim May 2026 as Older Americans Month and urge 
every resident to recognize the contributions of older citizens, promote social connection and 
engagement, and support efforts to empower older adults to live independently and with dignity
