Autism Acceptance Month 
 
April 2026 
 
 
WHEREAS, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a developmental condition that affects 
individuals in varying ways, impacting communication, behavior, and social interaction; and 
 
WHEREAS, autism is prevalent across all racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups, and 
increased awareness and understanding are essential to ensuring acceptance, inclusion, and 
support for individuals on the autism spectrum; and 
 
WHEREAS, early diagnosis and access to appropriate services and support can significantly 
improve outcomes and quality of life for individuals with autism; and 
 
WHEREAS, families, caregivers, educators, and service providers play a vital role in supporting 
individuals with autism and advocating for inclusive opportunities; and 
 
WHEREAS, individuals with autism contribute unique strengths, talents, and perspectives 
that enrich our community; and 
 
WHEREAS, fostering acceptance and inclusion helps individuals with autism achieve their full 
potential and promotes a more compassionate and supportive community; and 
 
WHEREAS, Autism Acceptance Month provides an opportunity to promote education, 
advocacy, and community involvement to support individuals with autism and their families. 
 
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Juan F. Rodriguez, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of 
the City of Tolleson, Arizona, do hereby proclaim April 2026 as Autism Acceptance Month in the 
City of Tolleson, and encourage all residents to promote understanding, acceptance, and
