Breast Cancer Awareness Month 
 
October 2025 
 
WHEREAS, breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women in the 
United States, and one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime; and 
 
WHEREAS, although breast cancer affects women most often, men are also at risk and may 
be diagnosed each year; and 
 
WHEREAS, early detection through regular screenings, mammograms, and self-examinations 
can save lives, increasing survival rates and improving treatment outcomes; and 
 
WHEREAS, advances in research, treatment, and community awareness have significantly 
improved the outlook for those diagnosed with breast cancer, yet continued efforts are vital to 
finding a cure; and 
 
WHEREAS, during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, individuals, businesses, nonprofit 
organizations, and healthcare providers unite to support patients, survivors, and families affected 
by breast cancer; and 
 
WHEREAS, the City of Tolleson recognizes the strength, resilience, and courage of those 
impacted by breast cancer and reaffirms its commitment to promoting education, early 
detection, and support for research and care. 
 
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Juan F. Rodriguez, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of 
the City of Tolleson, Arizona, do hereby proclaim October 2025 as Breast Cancer Awareness 
Month in the City of Tolleson and encourage all residents, businesses, and community 
organizations to join in activities that raise awareness and support efforts to combat breast
