Tolleson Fire Department MONTHLY REPORT OCTOBER 2025 PAGE 1 Operations October Call Volume For October, Engine 161 responded to 192 calls, averaging 6.2 calls per day. Ladder/LT161 responded to a combined total of 101 calls, averaging 3.3 calls per day. The reduced call volume for the Ladder/LT161 is due to staffing shortages and the inability to consistently meet the four-person minimum staffing requirement necessary to keep the ladder truck in service. On days when adequate staffing could not be secured, a 2–3-person Low Acuity (LA) Unit was placed into service. The LA Unit is designed to manage lower-acuity incidents within the City of Tolleson, ensuring Engine 161 remains available for higher-priority emergencies when full ladder staffing is not achievable. The LA Unit was in service 16 days during October. This training ensures operational readiness and compliance with NFPA and regional standards. • Res-Q-Jack Vehicle Stabilization Demonstration – October 27 o The department hosted a Res-Q-Jack demonstration for all fire personnel, providing exposure to advanced vehicle stabilization systems and enhancing technical rescue capabilities. • Key Hose & Elkhart Brass Demonstrations – October 22 o Crews participated in hands-on demonstrations from Key Hose and Elkhart Brass, evaluating modern hose, stream, and nozzle technologies to support future purchasing decisions and operational effectiveness. Boy Scout Education & Station Tours – October 5 & 12 The department hosted two Boy Scout groups for educational sessions and station tours, serving approximately 50 children and adults. Each group received a tailored curriculum that met badge requirements. Fire Evacuation Drill – Martinic Engineering Fire personnel conducted a full-scale fire evacuation drill for Martinic Engineering involving approximately 80 employees. The drill reinforced emergency response protocols, improved employee readiness, and provided valuable feedback to strengthen workplace emergency plans. PAGE 4 Fire Evacuation Drill – MiTek The department conducted a fire evacuation drill for MiTek, providing post-drill recommendations to enhance evacuation efficiency and employee accountability. City Hall Job Fair Participation Fire personnel attended the City Hall Job Fair to promote department hiring opportunities, distribute hiring requirement information, and recruit candidates for the Tolleson Fire Cadet Program. Trunk-or-Treat Community Event The department participated in the annual Trunk-or-Treat event, with personnel in costume hosting a booth and distributing candy. Fire Day Luncheon & Fire Extinguisher Training for City Employees The department hosted Fire Day at the station, welcoming approximately 80 city employees for a luncheon, guided station tours, and fire extinguisher training. Nineteen participants completed hands-on extinguisher training. Tolleson Talks Fire personnel participated in Tolleson Talks with approximately 50 community members. CPR/First Aid Skills Training – Gatorade Facility Personnel conducted CPR and First Aid skills sessions for 42 Gatorade employees. Ahuevo Café Ribbon Cutting Fire personnel attended the Ahuevo Café Ribbon Cutting ceremony. Car Seat Safety Checks: 4 Volunteer Hours: 12
