Disability Employment Awareness Month
October 2025
WHEREAS, the City of Tolleson recognizes the immense value, skills, and talents that
individuals with disabilities contribute to our workplaces, communities, and economy; and
WHEREAS, National Disability Employment Awareness Month is observed each October to
celebrate the many and varied contributions of America’s workers with disabilities and to
emphasize the importance of ensuring inclusive and equitable workplaces for all; and
WHEREAS, the 2025 theme, “Celebrating Value and Talent,” honors the creativity,
innovation, and determination that people with disabilities bring to America’s workforce and
underscores the importance of fostering environments that empower all individuals to reach
their full potential; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tolleson is committed to promoting employment opportunities for
individuals with disabilities and to cultivating a workplace culture of inclusion, respect, and
accessibility within municipal operations and throughout the broader community; and
WHEREAS, employers who hire, support, and retain workers with disabilities strengthen their
organizations through diversity of perspective, dedication, and innovation; and
WHEREAS, during Disability Employment Awareness Month, the City of Tolleson joins with
the State of Arizona, local businesses, and community organizations in recognizing the
achievements and contributions of individuals with disabilities in the workplace and encouraging
continued efforts toward full inclusion.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Juan F. Rodriguez, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of
the City of Tolleson, Arizona, do hereby proclaim October 2025 as Disability Employment
Awareness Month in the City of Tolleson and encourage all citizens, businesses, and community
leaders to celebrate and promote the value and talent of individuals with disabilities in our
workforce and community.
