Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month 
June 2025 
 
WHEREAS, Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive and fatal brain disorder that affects more than 
6 million Americans, robbing them of their memories, independence, and ultimately, their lives; 
and 
 
WHEREAS, Alzheimer’s disease is the most common form of dementia; a neurological 
condition contributing significantly to global disability and mortality; and it is not a normal part 
of aging; and 
 
WHEREAS, more than 11 million Americans provide unpaid care for people living with 
Alzheimer’s or other dementias; including family members, friends, and neighbors who devote 
countless hours supporting their loved ones; and 
 
WHEREAS, the impact of Alzheimer’s extends beyond those diagnosed; affecting caregivers, 
families, and communities, including residents of the City of Tolleson; highlighting the urgent 
need for prevention, education, and equitable care; and 
 
WHEREAS, the City of Tolleson believes that prevention is essential and supports intentional 
strategies; including regular physical activity, healthy nutrition, quality sleep, stress 
management, and social engagement to reduce the risk of neurological disease; and 
 
WHEREAS, brain health must be prioritized across all stages of life; from early childhood to 
old age; with education and access to diagnostic and therapeutic services available to all 
individuals, regardless of socioeconomic background; and 
 
WHEREAS, the Alzheimer’s Association and allied organizations are leading vital efforts in 
research, caregiver support, and advocacy; for early intervention, risk assessment, and a global 
approach to brain health equity; and 
 
WHEREAS, during the month of June, individuals are encouraged to wear purple; raise 
awareness, honor those impacted, and support a future without Alzheimer’s disease. 
 
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Juan F. Rodriguez, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of 
the City of Tolleson, Arizona, do hereby proclaim June 2025 as Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness 
Month in the City of Tolleson, and urge all residents to become informed; prioritize prevention; 
support those living with dementia and their caregivers; and advocate for a healthier, more
