RESOLUTION NO. 2598
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TOLLESON,
ARIZONA, APPROVING THE SISTER CITY AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF
TOLLESON AND THE CITY OF PUERTO PEÑASCO, SONORA, MEXICO, AND
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE THE AGREEMENT.
WHEREAS, the United States of America and the United Mexican States have a
longstanding history of friendship, cooperation, and mutual respect; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tolleson, Arizona, and the City of Puerto Peñasco, Sonora, Mexico,
share similar goals of promoting cultural exchange, strengthening international goodwill, and
expanding business, tourism, and development opportunities; and
WHEREAS, both cities recognize the importance of building and maintaining collaborative
international relationships that benefit their residents; and
WHEREAS, the proposed Sister City Agreement outlines the intent of both cities to
promote mutual understanding and goodwill through trade, tourism, development, and cultural
and educational exchanges; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tolleson wishes to formally establish a Sister City relationship with
the City of Puerto Peñasco and enter into an agreement.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TOLLESON, ARIZONA, as follows:
Section 1. The recitals above are hereby adopted and incorporated as if fully set forth
herein.
Section 2. The Sister City Agreement between the City of Tolleson, Arizona, and the City
of Puerto Peñasco, Sonora, Mexico, is hereby approved in substantially the form attached hereto
as Exhibit A and incorporated herein by reference.
Section 3. The Mayor, City Manager, City Clerk and City Attorney are hereby authorized
and directed to take all steps necessary to cause the execution and delivery of this Sister City
Agreement and to take all steps necessary to carry out the purpose and intent of this Resolution.

SISTER CITY AGREEMENT
BETWEEN THE
CITY OF TOLLESON, ARIZONA, U.S.A.
AND THE
CITY OF PUERTO PEÑASCO, SONORA, MEXICO
WHEREAS, the U.S.A. and Mexico have a long tradition of friendship and cooperation that favors
relationships and exchanges between the people of our countries;
WHEREAS, the cities of Tolleson and Puerto Peñasco share similar goals of promoting cultural
exchange, strengthening international goodwill, and expanding business relations; and
WHEREAS, both cities recognize the advantages of collaboration and share in the belief that a
Sister City relationship between Tolleson and Puerto Peñasco will mutually benefit the people of both cities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND AGREED, that a Sister City relationship shall
be officially established between the cities of Tolleson and Puerto Peñasco upon the full execution of this
Agreement.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED AND AGREED, that the cities shall aspire to further their Sister
City relationship by exploring ways to:
1. Promote both cities for trade and investment;
2. Encourage cooperation and exchange between local development agencies, Chambers of
Commerce, and tourism departments;
3. Promote mutual tourism opportunities between both cities and regions including leisure and
business tourism; and
4. Encourage cultural exchanges between both cities.
5. The term of this agreement shall be for five years, which can be extended for an additional five
years by mutual agreement of both parties.
6. Each city may cancel this Agreement with a 60 day written notice provided to the other city.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the cities have executed this Agreement as of the date and year last
set forth below.

ACUERDO DE CIUDAD HERMANA
ENTRE LA
CIUDAD DE TOLLESON, ARIZONA, EE. UU.
Y LA
CIUDAD DE PUERTO PEÑASCO, SONORA, MÉXICO
CONSIDERANDO que los EE. UU. y México tienen una larga tradición de amistad y cooperación que
favorece las relaciones y los intercambios entre los pueblos de nuestros países;
CONSIDERANDO que las ciudades de Tolleson y Puerto Peñasco comparten metas similares de promover
el intercambio cultural, fortalecer la buena voluntad internacional y expandir las relaciones comerciales;
Y CONSIDERANDO que ambas ciudades reconocen las ventajas de la colaboración y comparten la
creencia de que una relación de Ciudad Hermana entre Tolleson y Puerto Peñasco beneficiará mutuamente a los
pueblos de ambas ciudades.
AHORA, POR LO TANTO, SE RESUELVE Y SE ACUERDA que se establecerá oficialmente una
relación de Ciudad Hermana entre las ciudades de Tolleson y Puerto Peñasco una vez que se ejecute plenamente este
Acuerdo.
SE RESUELVE Y SE ACUERDA ADEMÁS que las ciudades aspirarán a fomentar su relación de Ciudad
Hermana explorando maneras de:
1. Promover ambas ciudades para el comercio y la inversión;
2. Fomentar la cooperación y el intercambio entre agencias locales de desarrollo, Cámaras de Comercio y
departamentos de turismo;
3. Promover oportunidades turísticas mutuas entre ambas ciudades y regiones, incluyendo turismo recreativo y
de negocios;
4. Fomentar intercambios culturales entre ambas ciudades.
5. La duración de este Acuerdo será de cinco años, el cual podrá ser extendido por otros cinco años mediante
acuerdo mutuo de ambas partes.
6. Cada ciudad podrá cancelar este Acuerdo con un aviso por escrito de 60 días proporcionado a la otra ciudad.
EN TESTIMONIO DE LO CUAL, las ciudades han ejecutado este Acuerdo en la fecha y año que se indica
a continuación.
