CITY COUNCIL REPORT SUBJECT: Ahuevo Cafe Liquor License Application No. 347230, Series 12 – Restaurant MEETING DATE: June 10, 2025 TO: Mayor and Council FROM: Crystal Zamora, City Clerk REVIEWED: Reyes Medrano Jr., City Manager PURPOSE: City Council will consider the approval of Arizona Department of Liquor Licenses and Control Liquor License Application No. 347230, Series 12 – Restaurant, as submitted by Juan Carlos Soberanes for Ahuevo Cafe located at 9205 West Van Buren Street, Tolleson, AZ. BACKGROUND: This non-transferable, on-sale retail privileges liquor license allows the holder of a restaurant license to sell and serve all types of spirituous liquor solely for consumption on the premises of an establishment which derives at least 40% of its gross revenue from the sale of food. Failure to meet the 40% food requirement may result in revocation of the license. DISCUSSION: As required by state law, the notice was posted at the business premises for the required period of time, which is a minimum of 20 calendar days. To date, the City Clerk’s Office has not received any comments for or against this liquor license application. Please refer to the applicant’s submittal for further information on this proposed liquor license. BUDGET IMPACT: This item has no additional budget impact. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the City Council approve Arizona Department of Liquor Licenses and Control Liquor License Application No. 347230. ATTACHMENTS: 1.
