Autism Acceptance Month 
April 2025 
 
WHEREAS, autism is a complex developmental condition that typically appears during early 
childhood and affects a person’s ability to communicate, interact with others, and process 
sensory information; and 
 
WHEREAS, autism is a spectrum disorder, meaning that individuals with autism can 
experience a wide range of abilities and challenges that are unique to each person; and 
 
WHEREAS, the City of Tolleson recognizes and celebrates the valuable contributions made by 
autistic individuals across all areas of life, including education, employment, arts, science, and 
community leadership; and 
 
WHEREAS, Autism Acceptance Month, celebrated each April, is a time to promote inclusion, 
celebrate neurodiversity, and continue our commitment to ensuring that individuals with autism 
have equal access to opportunities and support; and 
 
WHEREAS, the City of Tolleson supports the movement from autism awareness to autism 
acceptance, recognizing that acceptance is often the first step to inclusion and meaningful 
change; and 
 
WHEREAS, our community stands in solidarity with autistic individuals, their families, 
caregivers, educators, and advocates who work tirelessly to create a more inclusive and 
understanding society; and 
 
WHEREAS, the City of Tolleson encourages residents to learn more about autism, embrace 
the diversity of minds and experiences, and foster an environment where everyone can thrive. 
 
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Juan F. Rodriguez, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of 
the City of Tolleson, Arizona, do hereby proclaim April 2025 as Autism Acceptance Month in the 
City of Tolleson, and urge all residents to join in supporting an inclusive community that values
