CITY COUNCIL REPORT SUBJECT: Appointment and/or Reappointment of Representatives to the Community Development Advisory Committee (CDAC) MEETING DATE: April 22, 2025 TO: Mayor and Council FROM: George Good, Chief Preparedness Officer/Human Services Director REVIEWED: Reyes Medrano Jr., City Manager PURPOSE: To discuss and consider the appointment and/or reappointment of the City of Tolleson’s Primary and Alternate Representatives to the Maricopa County Community Development Advisory Committee (CDAC) for the term beginning July 1, 2025, and ending June 30, 2027. BACKGROUND: The City of Tolleson currently has Council Member Erives serving as the Primary Representative and Council Member Gámez serving as the Alternate Representative on the Community Development Advisory Committee (CDAC). The current term is set to expire on June 30, 2025. The CDAC was established by the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors to serve in an advisory capacity on issues related to the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program. This includes providing recommendations on funding allocations, promoting fair housing, and addressing housing affordability concerns affecting low- and moderate-income residents. DISCUSSION: As a standing committee under the Maricopa County CDBG Program, CDAC ensures ongoing and effective participation from local jurisdictions and community organizations throughout all phases of the program. Maintaining active and engaged representation from the City of Tolleson is essential to support regional collaboration and advocacy for community development resources. CDAC meetings are scheduled regularly on the second Wednesday of each month and are held at: Maricopa County Human Services Department 234 North Central Avenue, 3rd Floor Phoenix, AZ 85003 BUDGET IMPACT: This item has no additional budget impact. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the Mayor and Council discuss and confirm appointments for the City of Tolleson’s Primary and Alternate Representatives to the CDAC for the upcoming term of July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2027.
