Older Americans Month 
 
May 2025 
 
WHEREAS, the City of Tolleson proudly joins the nation in recognizing May as Older 
Americans Month, a time to honor the invaluable contributions of older adults, celebrate their 
achievements, and reaffirm our commitment to ensuring they live with dignity, respect, and 
independence; and 
 
WHEREAS, the 2025 theme for Older Americans Month, “Powered by Connection”, 
emphasizes the profound impact that meaningful relationships and social connections have on 
the health and well-being of older adults, fostering greater inclusion and community 
engagement; and 
 
WHEREAS, older Americans in Tolleson have built the foundation of our City through decades 
of hard work, service, and dedication, and they continue to enrich our community with wisdom, 
experience, and civic involvement; and 
 
WHEREAS, the City recognizes the importance of empowering older adults to stay active, 
engaged, and connected to the services, support, and opportunities that enhance their quality of 
life; and 
 
WHEREAS, we are committed to building an inclusive society that honors the voices, choices, 
and independence of all older individuals and promotes multigenerational bonds that strengthen 
families and neighborhoods; 
 
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Juan F. Rodriguez, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of 
the City of Tolleson, Arizona, do hereby proclaim May 2025 as Older Americans Month, and 
encourage all residents to recognize the contributions of older adults, support their continued 
participation in community life, and work toward creating a society that honors aging with
