A Regular Meeting of the Fountain Hills Community Services Advisory Commission was 
convened at 16705 E. Avenue of the Fountains in open and public session at 5:01 p.m.

CHAIR REDDICK:  Calling the meeting to order and the meeting for community service 
advisors.  Commissioners will come to order and we'll start with the Pledge of 
Allegiance.  
ALL:  I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic 
for which it stands one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. 
CHAIR REDDICK:  All right.  We are going to have a moment of silence.  All right.  And a 
quorum is present and we'll proceed with our roll call.  
MAZEIKIS:  Commissioner Ron Rupert?   
Commissioner Craig Rudolphy? 
RUDOLPHY:  Present.   
MAZEIKIS:  Commissioner Stephen Barnes? 
BARNES:  Present. 
MAZEIKIS:  Commissioner Adam Oberg? 
Commissioner Natalie Verela? 
VERELA:  Present. 
MAZEIKIS:  Chair Carey Reddick? 
CHAIR REDDICK:  Present. 
MAZEIKIS:  And Vice-Chair Rory Wilson? 
WILSON:  Here. 
CHAIR REDDICK:   All right.  Quorum is present, and we are going to proceed with our 
meeting.  We'll start with the consent of the agenda.  So these items are considered 
routine and we'll approve with -- with a motion, unless a commissioner has requested 
an item to be removed.  So is there a motion to approve and consent the agenda?  
WILSON:  I move to approve.  
CHAIR REDDICK:  And a second.  
BARNES:  Second.  
CHAIR REDDICK:  All right.  And then we'll vote.  
SNIPES: Yeah.  You can just do the all in favor.

CHAIR REDDICK:  All in favor?   
ALL:  Aye. 
CHAIR REDDICK:  All right.  We're going to move to handling the motions.  And we will 
start with the presentation.  
SNIPES:  So we did have our -- I assume we're on regular agenda now, right?  That was 
the minutes.  Okay.  We had our -- got our numbers back around 22,000 people 
attending for the Concourse in the Hills.  That's what our official numbers show, even 
though their estimates were a little bit higher than that.   
That is the number that -- that our -- our computer system -- can't think of what it's 
called.  Yeah, drawing a blank told us that we had there that day which was really good 
attendance.  That's a lot of people moving through when you consider the park's full of 
1,000 cars and having 22,000 people around them, it takes up a lot of space in the park.   
RUDOLPHY:  So there were 1,000 cars there? 
SNIPES:  1,100. 
RUDOLPHY:  1,100 cars. 
SNIPES:  Yep. 
RUDOLPHY:  I was there.  I saw the 22,000 people I think. 
SNIPES:  Did you meet each one of them?  Yeah.  So but it went really well.  There were 
just under 500,000 that they were able to raise for the Phoenix children again.  Every 
year  I just hope that we can cross over that $500,000 barrier, and it seems like we were 
within, like, I think we were within 300 bucks one year.   
And it was like, oh, come on.  So but still a really good event and fundraiser for the 
Phoenix Children's Hospital as well as the town and the economic impact that -- that 
goes along with hosting an event that size.  So that went really good.  Want me to just 
move on down through these?  
CHAIR REDDICK:  Yeah.  I was just going to say we can then move to, you know, point, or 
I should say b, c, and d.  
SNIPES:  So the Arizona State Puzzle Program we just hung another nine puzzle pieces a 
few weeks ago now, I guess it was.  So it's starting to look much more full.  I think we're

at about 54 pieces that are left.  So we're getting there.  It's been steady lately.  We've 
had several people that have inquired about it, and -- and so we are moving through 
that process.  But it is not going over and seeing it now compared to when it was just a 
blank slate, and seeing those pieces start to fill in is really starting to take shape, and it 
looks really good.   
Our upcoming events, this week we have our volunteer reception over at the 
community center.  So that'll be a really good event.  And I think she's close to 230 
people or 240 people that'll be there so it'll be a nice big event as well.   
And we have our -- our next event is Saturday with the Eggstravaganza and Touch a 
Truck.  We combined the two of those this year.  It's the first year we've done that.  
Eggstravaganza just seemed like there was so much setup up and tear down that the 
event was over in about 13.2 seconds.   
I think it's our record, so we like to try and extend that a little bit.  So we decided to 
bring in the Touch a Truck event with it, which is this time of year, I know that you guys 
know, but our staff is running ragged almost every weekend and through the week.  So 
combining the two of them made it a little bit easier on staff to -- to host one big event 
versus two small events and have to be here multiple weekends.  So hopefully that 
works out really well.   
We do have a new venue for that this year.  This is the first time we've done it at Desert 
Vista Park.  So that'll change that up a little bit as well so hopefully that all goes really 
smoothly and Mother Nature plays nice and doesn't rain out the fields for that event.  
We've had that happen for our Touch a Truck there the first year we tried to move it 
over there.  So hopefully that all goes really good, but we are looking forward to it.  The 
eggs are all over the office right now, so we're ready for it.   
Concerts on the Avenue start here in April.  Every Thursday they'll be on the Avenue 
except for the third Thursday.  And that one will move back under the pavilion over in 
Centennial Pavilion, but the other -- there's five Thursdays this year in April, so four of 
them will be on the Avenue and one will be over there.   
And then just a couple weeks out now, as Ryan told me today, sneaking up on him, Irish

Music Fest will be April 4th.  We're hoping to capitalize on our gains from last year and 
looks like we're supposed to have some really nice weather again.  Should be in the 80s 
instead of the 90s or 100s or 200s or whatever we get up to now.  So it should be a great 
event and we're looking forward to that as well.   
Those are our close and upcoming events.  We are looking still for some extra help for 
Music Fest if anyone's interested.  We need some ticket -- ticket sales, beer tickets and 
wine tickets as well.  Are you going to add something?  Fire away. 
MAZEIKIS:  And also, too, on page 22 on the staffing report Kim Wickland, her 
information or Kimberly Wickland, her information, her contact information is listed 
here.  And she would be more than happy to help you guys with that volunteering 
opportunities.  So feel free to reach out to her.  
SNIPES:  Awesome.  I think that's all I've got for those.  
CHAIR REDDICK:  Commissioners, are there any questions?  So we have an update on 
our next meeting date, which will take place April 27th at 5 p.m.  Now I would like to 
open the call to the public.  Anyone?  All right.  Commissioners, are there any future 
requests for future agenda items that we should add?  All right.  
RUDOLPHY:  Kevin, you have a presentation tomorrow for CIPs that you're going to try 
to convince council, too, so that might be an interesting topic to hear about what your 
future plans are as part of your normal talking points.  
SNIPES:  Sure.  Yeah.  I'd be happy to -- to share what -- what we go over as well as what 
the results are and which ones are approved.  We're going to do the same thing that 
we've been doing the last several years of doing a red, yellow, green light mentality on 
it.  So if we get green lit on projects, it's a go for all the contracts and any transfers or 
anything like that that's needed.  If it's a yellow lit project, it means that they are 
interested in the in the project, but would like for us to come back with some more 
clarity.   
Sometimes, like, one that falls into that a lot of times will be like community center 
improvements.  We know we want to do some more, but we're not sure what we want 
to do yet.  So they'll approve it into the budget, and then we'll come back later and get

their final approval to do whatever it is that we decide we want to do.   
So, like, the lights and fans were done under a yellow light project because we didn't 
have the style or what we were going to do or what it was going to look like before we 
did that.  So we had to bring that back.  So -- and then the red light ones are the ones 
that they're not interested in, and we'll bump them out to either a further year or we'll 
terminate them completely.  
VERELA:  For the splash park -- I mean, I'm seeing it all over the connection.  What is the 
route?  What's the reason?  Is it really treating -- treating the water that the splash park 
can't be open?  And can I ask that now, or does that have to go on a -- 
SNIPES:  We can talk about that on -- on a future agenda --  
VERELA:  Okay.  
SNIPES:  -- so that we're not outside of our agenda. 
VERELA:  Then, yeah, I'd like to add -- add that. 
SNIPES:  Sure. 
CHAIR REDDICK:  All right.  Any other requests to add to the agenda?
