A Regular Meeting of the Strategic Planning Advisory Commission was 
convened at 16705 E. Avenue of the Fountains in an open and public session at 
4:00 PM

YAZZETTA:  Okay.  Good afternoon, everyone.  I'll call to order the February 25th 
Strategic Planning Advisory Commission.  Rules and procedures for all council sessions 
and Commission sessions have changed, so just follow along.  We'll walk through this 
one item at a time.  We will now be beginning meetings with the Pledge of Allegiance.  
So I would ask everyone to rise, please, and face the flag, which is over there to the 
right.  One second.  We'll wait for Joe.  Come on, Joe.  
ALL:  I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America and to the Republic 
for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.   
YAZZETTA:  Thank you everyone.  And if you choose, please remain standing for a brief 
moment of silence.  Thank you.   
Town Clerk, may I have a roll call, please?  
PADGETT-ESPIRITU:  Sure.  Chair Garman is unable to be with us today.  Vice Chair 
Yazzetta. 
YAZZETTA:  Here.   
PADGETT-ESPIRITU:  Commissioner Crader, I believe, is unable to be with us today.  
Commissioner Reyes.   
REYES:  Here. 
PADGETT-ESPIRITU:  Commissioner Bonnett.  
BONNETT:  Here. 
PADGETT-ESPIRITU:  Commissioner Hoenle. 
HOENLE:  Here.   
PADGETT-ESPIRITU:  Commissioner Smith. 
SMITH:  Here.   
PADGETT-ESPIRITU:  We have a quorum. 
YAZZETTA:  Thank you.  The statement of participation, item number 4, does not need to 
be read aloud, but if anyone were here and was curious about how to participate, that 
would be -- I believe that's supposed to be up on the screen, too, right?  But in any 
event, no one is here today, so we'll move on to item number 5, a summary of current 
events by director.  And I'm going to look over to my right and Deputy Town Manager

Dave, do you have anything for us?  
TRIMBLE:  Not a whole lot.  The town kind of kicked off budget season yesterday with a 
work session.  We had a budget retreat.  Lasted most of the day.  It's online, if anybody 
wants to see anything, but -- then we'll start into the rest of the budget season from 
there, so that's about it.  
YAZZETTA:  Thank you very much.  We have no proclamations, awards or recognitions.  
We have no presentations, which brings us down to item 8, which is our consent 
agenda.  So previously, we would have a separate standalone agenda item to approve 
the minutes.  This has been moved into the consent agenda, which is new for our 
commission, but may I have a motion to approve the meeting minutes from the January 
28th meeting? 
BONNETT:  I move to approve. 
REYES:  Second. 
YAZZETTA:  Town Clerk, may I have a or -- I guess all in favor?   
ALL:  Aye. 
YAZZETTA:  I'm sorry.  I'm used to doing roll call for council sessions, but we can just do 
unanimous, right -- 
PADGETT-ESPIRITU:  Yes. 
YAZZETTA:  -- or all at once?  Okay.  Excellent. 
PADGETT-ESPIRITU:  Yes, for this, you can. 
YAZZETTA:  Very well.  Moving on to the regular agenda, and this is going to be a pretty 
short meeting.  We do not have a presentation from one of the town's directors today, 
so this is going to be discussion and planning for the Strategic Planning Advisory 
Commission guided workshops.  So we will be hosting one of the outreach sessions that 
will be Saturday, April 4th at the Community Center.  I will work with town clerk to 
distribute information to all of you about that.  And I will also work with Mike Pelton, 
who's the town community -- I'm sorry, the communications director to get the word 
out to the community.  This will be the third year in a row that we are holding outreach 
workshops at the community center.  And we have had pretty good attendance

throughout.  And this year, we're going to be drilling down to the specific tasks, so that's 
the ground level for the upcoming iteration of the plan that we've all been working on 
this whole time.  So stay tuned for more information about that.  And then I will be 
working closely with Bernie and getting time at -- what is the name of the meeting room 
at the school district?  
HOENLE:  That's the Fountain Hills Unified School District Learning Center.  
YAZZETTA:  The learning center.  Okay.  We will have a second session.  Instead of having 
two at the community center, we're going to have one at the community center and one 
at the learning center, hopefully, to capture, you know, a different audience that we 
have been getting previously, so more to come on that specific topic.  So those are the 
workshops.  Let's see here.  The next is update from a commission working groups.  No 
updates to speak of at the moment.  And then discussion and possible action 
consideration of future agenda items pertaining to the strategic plan.  Does anyone 
have anything to suggest?  Patrick usually ask for suggestions, but I don't have any.  
Does anyone have anything they'd like to offer at the moment?  Hearing none.  Okay.  
We'll move on to item number 10, which is called to the public.  Town Clerk, do we have 
any speaker cards? 
PADGETT-ESPIRITU:  No, we do not.  
YAZZETTA:  Thank you very much.  Item 11, Commission discussion and direction to the 
director.  Does anyone have any suggestions to share with our deputy town manager or 
town manager?  Hearing none, we'll move on to future agenda items.  That is -- Angela, 
help me out here.  How does that differ from 11? 
PADGETT-ESPIRITU:  This is a separate item and that -- this is where it requires.  This 
would be future agenda items possibly not related in your case to the strategic plan, but 
two other items.  And also you have to have two people and then we'll add that to the, 
the following meeting.  So let's say, for instance, you want to discuss you wanted 
somebody from on the coalition.  Right.  You would bring that up and you have two 
more commissioners agree to it -- 
YAZZETTA:  Um-hum.

HOENLE:  I'll make the motion, we adjourn.
