Martin Luther King, Jr. Week 2026

WHEREAS, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a visionary leader whose courage, compassion,
and unwavering commitment to justice helped advance civil rights and equality for all
Americans through nonviolent action; and

WHEREAS, Dr. King’s legacy continues to inspire people of all backgrounds to serve their
communities, promote mutual respect, and work toward a society rooted in fairness,
dignity, and opportunity; and

WHEREAS, Martin Luther King Jr. Week provides an opportunity to honor his life and
teachings by reflecting on the importance of service, civic engagement, and the
responsibility of individuals and communities to stand against injustice; and

WHEREAS, the Town of Fountain Hills values diversity, inclusion, and the fundamental
belief that every individual deserves respect, equal opportunity, and the freedom to
pursue their full potential; and

WHEREAS, recognizing Martin Luther King Jr. Week encourages residents, businesses,
schools, and community organizations to participate in activities that foster
understanding, unity, and positive community impact.

NOW THEREFORE, |, Mayor Gerry M. Friedel, along with the Council of the Town of
Fountain Hills, Arizona do hereby proclaim, the week of January 18, 2026, as

MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. WEEK

in the Town of Fountain Hills, and encourage all residents to honor Dr. King’s legacy
through acts of service, reflection, and community involvement that promote equality,
justice, and peace.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, | have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the Town of
Fountain Hills to be affixed this 20" day of January 2026.
