Council Base Stipends Resolution 2025-35 Paul Soldinger, Chief Financial Officer December 16, 2025 Council Base Stipends Background • Mayor & Council compensation first established in April 1992 • $300 per month for Councilmembers • $400 per month for the Mayor • Compensation was adjusted in 2000 to current amounts: • $400 per month for Councilmembers • $600 per month for the Mayor Council Base Stipends Background • Town Code and ARS 9-232.01 allow for the Council to approve increased compensation by resolution • The Town Council did not approve Resolution 2025-18 (by a 3-4 vote) at the May 6, 2025, regular meeting to increase the amounts to: • $750 per month for Councilmembers • $1,100 per month for the Mayor • The Council held additional conversations on this subject during the June 17, 2025, regular meeting and the September 9, 2025, work session • Several Councilmembers expressed interest in revisiting increasing the base amounts (beginning after the next election) and aligning annual Council pay adjustments with Town staff pay adjustments Council Base Stipends – Resolution 2025-35 • Resolution 2025-35 revisits the idea of increasing base stipend amounts to the following amounts beginning December 2026: • $750 per month for Councilmembers • $1,100 per month for the Mayor • Another agenda item will discuss aligning annual adjustments with Town staff Questions & Comments?
