Workforce Development Community Report: Town of Wickenburg FY25 Quarter 2 Maricopa County • Human Services Department • Workforce Development Equal Opportunity Employer/Program. Auxiliary aids and services are available upon request to individuals with disabilities. ARIZONA@WORK Maricopa County products and services are made available through federal funding provided by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) serving employers by aiding job seekers, adults, dislocated workers, and youth. WIOA establishes a priority requirement for the use of funds for Adult individualized career and training services. Under WIOA, priority is given to public assistance recipients (TANF, SNAP, SSI), low-income individuals, or individuals who are basic skills deficient for Adult individualized career and training services. Veterans and eligible spouses in these groups receive top priority. The Title I Adult, Dislocated Worker, and Youth programs are 100% funded by the Department of Labor in the amount of $13,500,041. 2 Workforce Development Coordinator Donna Bunch is the WDC in Wickenburg. She continues to grow relationships with participants, employers and stakeholders of the town. Job Fair Donna hosted her second Wickenburg Job Fair November 20, 2024, at the Wickenburg Community Center. Five employers attended with 2 being in the in- demand industries of healthcare and manufacturing. Fifteen job seekers attended the job fair. Two interviews were scheduled, and 1 participant was hired! Workforce Development Coordinator Services Donna has a caseload of 15 Workforce 2 You cases and 1 WIOA case. Donna had 25 participants attend her workshops which include resume, job search, and interview. This program is called Workforce 2 You. The County will provide two cohorts of 12-15 participants with no-cost occupational skills training and support services in Gila Bend, Wickenburg and Queen Creek. Electronic Health Record (EHR) Management and Home Health Aide (HHA) will be the new trainings that will be offered. In addition, Gila Bend will provide English Language Learning (ELL) course and Manufacturing Technician in the East Valley. Recruitment and enrollment will be February 1 to March 30. Dates for trainings: • ELL: April 15 to June 30. • HHA: June 9 to August 27 • EHRM: June 9 to September 10 • Manufacturing Technician: TBA Participants will receive Career Pathway Collateral for their selected training to help inform them of what to expect post completion. Community Outreach and Support On October 2, 2024, Donna met with people from the Wickenburg JAG program to network, promote workforce services and the job fair for November 20, 2024. Donna attended the Coffee hour with the Wickenburg Chamber of Commerce to discuss available workforce services and provide job fair flyers on October 9, 2024. Donna tabled at Saguaro Janes food bank to promote ARIZONA@WORK workforce services on October 17 and December 12, 2024. Donna’s conducted outreach to employers and other community organizations, on November 1 and November 7, to promote November 20 job fair. Donna provided flyers to business and libraries in Wickenburg, Morristown and Wittmann. Donna attended the Swagger, Sneakers and Styles hiring event to table and promote workforce services on December 6, 2024. Donna tabled at the Morristown Volunteer Library to promote workforce services on December 17, 2024. Donna tabled at the Wickenburg Public Library to promote workforce services on December 19 and December 23, 2024. Donna canvased Wickenburg hotels and apartment buildings to provide workforce service flyers on December 19 and December 23, 2024. Business and Employer Services The Workforce Development Coordinators and Business Services Representatives (BSRs) work closely with Employment Services staff from the state and other local workforce areas to coordinate and deliver services to employers as part of the ARIZONA@WORK network. Among the services provided, staff assist employers with registering and posting job openings in Arizona Job Connection (AJC), the state’s web-based job-matching and management information system where referrals and placements can be tracked. During FY25 Quarter 2, the West Valley BSRs checked in with 460 West Valley businesses to offer services including job postings, job referrals, and hiring events.
