Past Grants: A summary of grants successfully awarded and completed since January 1, 2024. 2. Present Grants: An overview of grants that have been awarded but are still in progress. 3. Future Grants: A report on recent grant applications in process or submitted. PAST GRANTS (AWARDED): ($3,258,552 Total) Court Security Improvements Grant – Fall 2024 Grant Award: $19,500 Town Contribution: $0 Total Project Cost: $19,500 The Court Security Improvement Grant funded by the Court Services Division of AZ Courts through the Judicial Collection Enhancement Fund (JCEF) was used to implement various security measures in the courtroom and office areas, ensuring the safety and protection of both the workers and the public. FAA Apron Reconstruction Grant – Fall 2024 ADOT Apron Reconstruction Grant – Fall 2024 Grant Award: $1,515,900 (FAA) & $550,000 (ADOT) Town Contribution: $74,413 Total Project Cost: $2,140,313 The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and AZ Department of Transportation provided funding for the apron reconstruction project focused on revitalizing the airport's apron area, ensuring a safer and more efficient space for aircraft operations. This upgrade included pavement preservation to extend the lifespan of the surface, while the apron reconstruction involved replacing and enhancing the pavement to accommodate increased traffic and improve overall functionality. These improvements enhance operational efficiency, safety, and the airport's capacity to handle future growth. Page 2 of 8 T-Mobile Hometown Grant – Summer 2024 Grant Award: $32,000 Town Contribution: $0 Total Project Cost: $32,000 The T-Mobile Hometown Grant was used to revamp the children's section at the town library, featuring new bookshelves for easier access, cozy reading nooks with comfortable furniture, vibrant murals, and other enhancements to create a welcoming space for young readers. Prop 302 Marketing Program 2024 – Summer 2024 Grant Award: $27,756 Town Contribution: $0 Total Project Cost: $27,756 The Prop 302 Marketing Program funded a tourism marketing campaign with Madden Media to boost online awareness of the exciting activities and attractions in Wickenburg, showcasing the town’s unique offerings to a broader audience. Alexander & Jane Boyd Foundation Grant – Summer 2024 Grant Award: $59,396 Town Contribution: $0 Total Project Cost: $59,396 The Alexander & Jane Boyd Foundation funded the purchase of the Lucas Device, a mechanical chest compression machine, to assist firefighters in providing more effective and consistent CPR during emergencies. ADOT – Airport Lighting Grant – Fall 2024 Grant Award: $650,000 Town Contribution: $0 Total Project Cost: $650,000 Through the AZ Department of Transportation (ADOT), the installation of new LED runway and taxiway lighting significantly enhances both safety and operational efficiency on the airfield. These advanced LED lights offer improved visibility, making it easier for pilots to navigate during low-light conditions, such as at night or in adverse weather. Energy-efficient LED technology also reduces maintenance costs and extends the lifespan of the lighting system. Furthermore, the brighter and more reliable lighting improves situational awareness for both airside operations and ground crew, ensuring smoother aircraft movements and reducing the risk of accidents. Page 3 of 8 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) – Apache Street – Fall 2024 Grant Award: $400,000 Town Contribution: $995,781 Total Project Cost: $1,395,781 The Maricopa County administered CDBG (Community Development Block Grant) was allocated to replace and upgrade the community’s aging waterline infrastructure, a crucial step toward ensuring long-term water quality and reliability. This project involved replacing outdated pipes that were prone to leaks and corrosion with modern, durable materials designed to prevent disruptions in service. By upgrading the waterline system, the community now benefits from improved water pressure and more efficient distribution, reducing the likelihood of contamination and service outages. Additionally, this upgrade ensures that the water supply meets higher safety standards, providing residents with a more reliable and consistent source of clean, potable water for years to come. Arizona Center for Cultural Health – Spring 2024 Grant Award: $4,000 Town Contribution: $0 Total Project Cost: $4,000 The Arizona Center for Cultural Health Grant supported the creation of a Storywalk at Coffinger Park, providing an innovative way for residents to engage with literature while enjoying the outdoors. This interactive experience features a carefully curated story displayed along the park’s walking path, allowing visitors of all ages to read a book as they stroll through the park. The story is refreshed four times a year, offering a new narrative and theme that aligns with the changing seasons, ensuring a fresh and exciting experience for the community each time they visit. The Storywalk promotes both physical activity and literacy in the park. Page 4 of 8 PRESENT GRANTS (CURRENTLY BEING AWARDED): ($27,112,602 Total) Tohono O’odham Nation Grant Grant Award: $46,000 Town Contribution: $0 Total Project Cost: $46,000 The Tohono O'odham Nation Grant provided essential funding for the purchase of tables and chairs at the Wickenburg Senior Center, transforming the space into a more comfortable, welcoming, and safer environment for the community. With the new, modern furniture, seniors now have access to more sturdy and ergonomic seating that enhances both their comfort and safety during meals and community activities. The updated furnishings also create a more inviting atmosphere, encouraging greater social interaction and participation in various programs offered at the center. Additionally, the improved layout and design ensure better accessibility, promoting independence and ease of movement for all attendees who rely on the Senior Center as a place to connect and engage. Currently, the grant is in the final stage of purchasing the remaining items in accordance with the grant agreement, and the project is expected to be closed out soon. Arizona Public Services (APS) Grant Grant Award: $5,000 Town Contribution: $5,100 Total Project Cost: $10,100 The Arizona Public Services (APS) Grant provides funding for a portion of the fireworks show at the 4th of July Spectacular event, adding to the excitement and celebration of the holiday for the community. Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation Grant Grant Award: $8,166 Town Contribution: $0 Total Project Cost: $8,166 The Firehouse Subs grant will provide the department with state-of-the-art thermal imaging cameras, significantly enhancing our firefighters’ ability to respond to emergencies with greater efficiency and precision. These advanced cameras allow firefighters to see through smoke, darkness, and even walls by detecting heat signatures, enabling them to quickly locate residents trapped in burning buildings or other hazardous environments. This life-saving technology not only aids in faster search and rescue operations but also improves overall safety for the fire crew by helping them navigate through dangerous situations and avoid potential hazards, such as structural collapse or hidden fires. The addition of thermal imaging cameras ensures that our team is better equipped to protect the community, reduce response times, and ultimately save more lives. Prop 302 Marketing Program 2025 Grant Award: $28,436 Town Contribution: $0 Total Project Cost: $28,436 The Prop 302 Marketing Program is funding a tourism marketing campaign with Madden Media to boost online awareness of the exciting activities and attractions in Wickenburg, showcasing the town’s unique offerings to a broader audience. This year’s focus will be on attracting international visitors, highlighting Wickenburg as a must-visit destination for travelers from around the world. First Things First (FTF)/Foundation for Senior Living (FSL) Family Resource Center Grant Award: $625,000 Town Contribution: 0 Total Project Cost: $625,000 Town of Wickenburg partnered with FTF (First Things First) and the Foundation For Senior Living (FSL) to begin creating a family resource center. This center will play a crucial role in supporting families with children from birth to age 5 by providing comprehensive resources and referrals tailored to the unique needs of young children and their parents. The grant is provided to the Town of Wickenburg then is administered by the Town of Wickenburg to FSL to carry out the operations of the Family Resource Center for two and a half years (Budget Years 24-25 through 26-27). The funding will be providing a variety of classes and activities designed to promote early childhood development, offering parents the tools and knowledge to support their child's cognitive, emotional, and social growth during these formative years. In addition to educational programs, families will gain access to a network of community services, including assistance with healthcare, nutrition, early learning resources, and parenting support. By connecting families to these valuable resources, the grant aims to foster a strong foundation for children’s future success, ensuring they enter school ready to thrive. This initiative will not only empower parents but also strengthen the overall well- being of the community by providing critical support during a child’s earliest stages of development. Page 6 of 8 ADOT – Infrastructure for Rebuilding America (INFRA) Grant - Arizona US 93 Corridor Grant Award: $26,000,000 Town Contribution: $0 Total Project Cost: $77,600,000 In late 2024, the Town of Wickenburg, in collaboration with the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), secured a significant $26,000,000 Infrastructure for Rebuilding America (INFRA) Grant. This federal funding, awarded directly to ADOT and fully managed by the department, will support the expansion of U.S. 93, a vital initiative designed to improve highway safety. The 4.5-mile stretch of U.S. 93 will be upgraded to a four-lane highway, improving traffic flow and accommodating increased vehicle volumes. Notable upgrades include a new roundabout at SR 89, installation of broadband conduit, eight-foot shoulders, a pedestrian bridge over the BNSF Railway tracks, and dedicated turn lanes. This project will not only improve safety and connectivity but also streamline travel for both local commuters and long-distance drivers, supporting the region’s economic growth by providing a safer and more efficient highway system. Page 7 of 8 FUTURE GRANTS (APPLICATIONS): ($1,039,928 Total) Dickey’s Foundation Grant Grant Request: $42,100 Town Contribution: $0 Total Project Cost: $42,100 If awarded, The Dicky Foundation Grant would fund the purchase of body cameras with automatic download features that transcribe interactions, saving police officers valuable time and allowing them to focus more on patrol duties. Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Grant Request: $169,828 Town Contribution: $0 Total Project Cost: $167,828 If awarded the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program though the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) would provide crucial funding for the purchase of two specialized UTV (Utility Task Vehicle) units, along with essential equipment, to enhance the fire department's ability to respond to off-road emergencies. These UTV units, designed for rugged terrain, will enable firefighters to quickly navigate trails, deserts, and other difficult-to-reach locations, ensuring timely rescue operations and medical assistance in areas that traditional vehicles cannot access. Equipped with the necessary tools and gear, the units will also support off-road recoveries, helping to transport injured individuals or respond to incidents such as wildfires or off-road accidents. This investment in off-road emergency response capabilities will ultimately improve safety for both the community and outdoor enthusiasts, while enhancing the fire department's preparedness for a wide range of challenging situations. Arizona Energy Efficiency & Conservation Block Grant (RFGA-EECBG) – LED Light Replacement & Bulb Giveaway Grant Request: $173,000 Town Contribution: $0 Total Project Cost: $173,000 If awarded, the Arizona Energy Efficiency Grant, through the AZ Governor's Office of Resiliency, will play a key role in reducing energy consumption across the town by funding the replacement of traditional lighting at town buildings and the Sunset Park sports courts with advanced, energy- efficient LED lights. This upgrade will not only improve the lighting quality, provide brighter, more reliable lighting, but it will also help lower the town’s overall energy costs and environmental impact. In addition to the public lighting upgrades, the grant will support a bulb giveaway program, allowing residents to experience the benefits of LED lighting in their own homes. By offering free LED bulbs, the town will encourage residents to make more energy-efficient choices, leading to reduced electricity use and long-term savings. Page 8 of 8 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) – El Pajarito Waterline Grant Request: $400,000 Town Contribution: $850,497 Total Project Cost: $1,250,497 If awarded the Maricopa County CDBG (Community Development Block Grant) would be to replace and upgrade the community’s aging waterline infrastructure, a crucial step toward ensuring long-term water quality and reliability.
