This tool is designed to be an overall summary of an industry within a region
Industry Snapshot
Describes a region's mix of industries based on a four-quarter average of the most recent data. Also included is the
historical change in employment and projected change in employment based on a time-period specified by the
user.
Current
Metrics are calculated based on a 1-year moving average from the most recent quarter for which data is available.
RTI (Job Postings)
This tool provides live job posting data from over 49,000 sources that can be queried by SOC codes, locations,
names of employers, certification requirements, skill requirements, job titles, education level requirements,
education programs, and/or job types. Online ads are retrieved from a variety of sites, including job boards, job
aggregators, and individual companies. The RTI data set is updated daily. All job ads counts in RTI are
deduplicated, also known as counts of "unique" ads; that is, before being brought into the RTI data set, all ads are
compared against each other and duplicates are removed.

recommend using this tool in your analysis of short-term and long-term market trends, business retention,
workforce training, program creation, and more!
Clusters
The Clusters Analytic consists of a bubble chart where you can view your regions clusters, typically defined as
geographic concentrations of interrelated industries or occupations within a region. Industry clusters may form
and grow based on supply chain relationships, locations (proximity to natural resources, distribution channels),
technology, trained labor, and education systems. This tendency for clusters to form around these relationships is
often referred to as "agglomeration." Occupation clusters may form and grow based on required skills and training
and education requirements.
Occupation Gaps
The gap is more fully described as the "Potential Occupation Gap." Many variables go into this analysis, but at its
core itis based on a forecast comparing occupation demand growth to the local population growth and the
projected educational attainment of those residents. When an area, for example, has an occupation expected to
grow quickly but the educational requirement for the occupation does not match well with the educational
attainment of its residents, there is a high potential for an occupation shortfall in the region. Alternatively, stow-
growing or contracting occupations often represent potential supply surpluses.
Technical Notes
The potential supply shortfall is an underlying force that the market needs to resolve one way or another, such as
by employers recruiting from further distances for these occupations, wages going up to attract more candidates,
and/or increased demand and wages enticing more local residents to get training for these occupations. While this
an important analysis for determining local occupation needs, the occupation gap should be considered along
with other regional data including growth and separation forecasts, unemployment rates, wage trends, and award
and skill gap analyses.

based upon BLS QCEW data, imputed by Chmura where necessary, and supplemented by additional sources
including Census ZBP data. Employment forecasts are modeled by Chmura and are consistent with BLS
