Mr. Tim Suan

Deputy Town Manager
Town of Wickenburg

155 N Tegner Street, Suite A
Wickenburg, AZ 85390

Dear Tim:

On behalf of the Board of Directors and staff of the Webb Center, | would like to thank the Town of
Wickenburg for providing funds to the Del E. Webb Center for the Performing Arts to “plan,
organize and execute events that deliver economic benefits to the Town.” These events “are
designed to involve and enhance the quality of life for the general public...foster community
engagement, cultural enrichment, and social interaction among residents.” The $5,000.00 acquired
from the B Tax for Event Sponsorship was supplemented with $9,001 from the Webb Center's
operational funds to produce the annual Guys Who Grill barbeque competition and fundraiser on
Saturday, March 15, 2025.

The event, held at the Wickenburg Community Center every year since its inauguration in 2011, is
eagerly anticipated by locals, Webb Center supporters and out of town guests alike. Due to the
loss of a number of event sponsors, the Town's financial support was instrumental in successfully
producing this year’s event.

As thoughtful stewards of the Town of Wickenburg’s B Tax funds, the Webb Center utilized the
$5,000 in financial support to offset event expenses including official sanctioning fees, facility and
equipment rental, event insurance, local accommodations for judges as well as event advertising.
See the attached itemized budget and copies of receipts and advertisements demonstrating the
specific use of the Town's funds.

Guys Who Grill’s event set up at the Wickenburg Community Center began on Thursday, March 13
with the delivery of the Community Stage, and continued on Friday as grilling teams from the
Valley, and as far away as Albuquerque, New Mexico, arrived to set up their RVs and cooking
stations. The public portion of the event was held on Saturday, March 15, 2025 from 11:30 am —
2:00 pm. The event's attendance including grilling teams, Webb Center staff and volunteers,
Barbeque Sanctioned Judges and the public is estimated at 750 participants.

The economic impact of these estimated 750 participants has not been quantified into a specific
monetary amount, however Webb Center staff are aware that those attending Guys Who Grill also
patronized downtown retail shops, restaurants and bars. As mentioned earlier a number of the

teams also spent the night using the Community Center's RV facilities and the Barbeque
Sanctioned Judges stayed at the Cobblestone Hotel on the night of March 14, 2025.

The Webb Center strived to reach a broad demographic of local and West Valley event attendees
with advertisements in the Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg Friends & Neighbors, Arizona Republic
(West Valley edition), Viva, Mountain View, and Independent Newsmedia publications.

In addition to creating an economic impact, Guys Who Grill influences the quality of life in
Wickenburg by fostering community engagement, social interaction, and cultural enrichment
among residents. The Webb Center worked with community partners including the Town of
Wickenburg, Arizona Rangers for event security, the Tyller Gummersall Band for live
entertainment, and Strebor’s Dirty Sodas truck. Grilling teams included representatives from
Vulture Peak Brewing, Capital Farms, and Project Salt, with Capital Farms taking home the “Best
Out of the Box” award. Working with these community partners helped spread the event's
promotional efforts to their supporters as well.

As mentioned above, approximately 750 local and Valley-wide guests attended the annual event;
sharing in their mutual enjoyment of barbeque food and live, country music. Beyond that social
engagement, the funds raised from Guys Who Grill, estimated at over $9,200, will support the
Webb Center's annual summer arts camp. Camp Imagination serves 200 first through twelfth grade
students. In a time, when performing arts programs are being eliminated from the local public
schools, programs such as Camp Imagination are becoming more critical for the cultural
enrichment and well-rounded education of Wickenburg's youth population. Having access to
cultural cornerstones like the Webb Center and Desert Caballeros Western Museum play a
significant role in Wickenburg’s overall quality of life for residents.

The Town of Wickenburg’s $5,000 sponsorship was critical to the success of Guys Who Grill this
year. The over $9,200 in proceeds will help the Webb Center successfully produce the 23% annual
Camp Imagination and its two performances of Rodgers & Hammerstein's “Oklahoma!”

To summarize, the Webb Center continues to be truly grateful to the Town Council for approving
the B Tax and its budgetary expenditures; helping us bring the Wickenburg community together
during Guys Who Grill in support of Camp Imagination. We look forward to working with the Town
of Wickenburg on future projects that benefit residents and visitors alike.

Best regards

Andy Halseth

WICKENBURG FRIENDS & NEIGHBORS FEBRUARY 2025 2)

By Stephanie Fornoff

On Saturday, March 15,”Guys Who Grill” fires up for the 13th Annual
All-You-Can-Sample Barbeque Fundraiser at the Wickenburg Community
Center. The grilling teams bring their“A” game for this competition, but
the real winners are those who come to enjoy the delicious food, cold
drinks, and tive entertainment from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The $20 general admission ticket includes mouth-watering samples of
various grilled and smoked meats, including pork, beef, and chicken.
ice-cold beer, margaritas, soft drinks, and water are available for purchase,
along with raffle tickets to win a Weber barbeque grill valued at $1,200,
generously donated by McKeever’s Ace Hardware. Picnic tables and hay
bales are available for seating. Lawn chairs and blankets are welcome, but
pets are not permitted.

Benefiting Camp Imagination, the summer arts camp produced by the
Del E. Webb Center for the Performing Arts, “Guys Who Grill” features
teams of guys (and/or gals) trying to win awards, including the coveted
People’s Choice recognition. Attendees can choose their favorite team
with a monetary vote made at their booths. The People's Choice winner
will receive a $250 cash prize.

Any business, restaurant, or group can form a team and enter the
competition. The entry fee for grilling teams is free, and the Webb Center
will reimburse a portion of food costs. Team registration forms are now
being accepted and can be found online at dewpac.org/events/guys-
who-grill or at the Box Office on the second floor of UMB Bank.

The event encourages the grilling teams to battle one another good-
naturedly with their barbeque and offer samples to the public of the items
they pride themselves on most. Continuing this year, both AZBarbeque
Catering and BCS Barbeque Championship Series will proudly sanction
“Guys Who Grill”

The community support for this year’s event also includes Crescent Crown
Distributing, NRS, and Strebor Food Truck, which will be on-site with their
“dirty sodas” and shaved ice for purchase.

Tickets forGuys Who Grill” are available at the gate on the day of the
event. They are also available in advance by visiting dewpac.org or calling
the Webb Center Box Office at 928.684.6624. Tickets are $20 for adults and
$10 for children 5-10 years of age; free for ages 4 and younger.
