What is a Light Topper?

History of the Light Pole Hats
Fall 2025 Staff Committee was created to reimplement program
At the request of the Town Manager, the program was reimplemented
Program went dormant after the initial sponsorships
At that time: Cost $600 and 10 hats were sponsored and placed around the downtown area
Scott Stewart, Councilmember 2006-2014 spearheaded the original Hat Program to address the 
recently adopted Western Sky Ordinance and the current light poles

Sponsorship Cost 
• $10,000 for “Gold Nugget” location – 
Wickenburg Way and Tegner Street light post locations
• $5,000 for “Silver Spur” location – 
All other light post locations
• The sponsorship includes a one-time replacement hat if necessary 
• Provides funding for town improvements & increases community investment

Breakdown of Sponsorship Costs:
Gold Nugget Option:  $10,000 
• invested for 50 years = $200 per year 
Silver Spur Option: $5,000 
• invested for 50 years = $100 per year
