Special Event Description 
The applicant proposes a 5K Family Fun Run/Walk to be conducted within the City of El Mirage. The 
event is designed as a family-oriented recreational activity open to participants of all ages.  
 
Date, Time, and Location 
• 
Event Date: December 12, 2026 
• 
Event Time: 10:00 a.m. 
• 
Set-Up / Traffic Control Period: 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. 
• 
Event Location: Public roadways within the City of El Mirage, with a turnaround point near 
Lower Cactus Basin Park. 
Event Operations 
• 
The event consists of a single 5K run/walk utilizing designated city streets. 
• 
Food truck vendors will be present as part of the event. 
• 
No permanent structures are proposed. 
Public Safety and Traffic Control 
A Traffic Control Plan (TCP) is required and will be implemented for the duration of the event. The 
YMCA and Dysart Education Foundation are requesting City Sponsorship of the event to support all 
operational items related to the TCP.  
• 
Law Enforcement: Police officers will be assigned to key intersections and control points to 
assist with participant safety and vehicular traffic management. 
• 
Road Closures/Restrictions: Temporary closures and local-access-only restrictions will be in 
place on portions of 125th Avenue, 127th Avenue, and Peoria Avenue. 
• 
Signage: Temporary traffic control signage, including “Special Event Ahead” and “Street Closed 
Ahead,” will be installed in accordance with the approved TCP. 
Traffic Impacts 
Temporary traffic impacts will occur along the race route and detour areas, including El Mirage Road, 
Cactus Road, Varney Road, and Peoria Avenue. All impacts are limited to the approved event 
timeframe and will be restored to normal traffic operations following event conclusion.
