Summary of Supplementary Programming Agreement
The City of El Mirage’s Services Agreement with the Valley of the Sun YMCA (dated August 22nd,
2023) highlights the need for ongoing collaborative evaluation of offerings that promotes
recreation services that are in-demand and appealing to residents. Exhibit A of the agreement
contemplates a “fluid document [that] is intended to be altered when necessary to ensure
proper fulfillment of the intent of the Agreement”… and that “subsidized programs… change by
written agreement of the City Administration and the YMCA” per Exhibit A Table A1. With all
other agreement provisions remaining the same, this supplementary programming agreement
document amends and adds to Exhibit A, Table A1, accordingly.
II.
Summary of Supplementary Programming
5K Fun Run/Walk Event
The Northwest Valley YMCA will operate a 5K Run/Walk Event in El Mirage, utilizing designated
city park and street locations, that is open to the public and suitable for all ages and abilities,
including the following responsibilities: marketing and sponsorship campaign, participant
registration, race-timing, site planning, food/vendor coordination, event staffing and volunteer
coordination, water stations, giveaway items, and any other event-related operations. All event
revenues from participant and sponsor proceeds shall be retained by the Northwest Valley
YMCA. The Northwest Valley YMCA will be responsible for submitting a City permit application
with all necessary details to fulfill the commitments contained herein.
The City of El Mirage will approve and waive all fees associated with special event permitting
and staffing costs, including: course map/site plan approval, traffic control planning and
implementation, public safety and on-site maintenance personnel to assist with event
operations. The City will assist with marketing efforts as a co-sponsor of the event.
