Fair Housing Month Proclamation 2026

PROCLAMATION
AUTISM AWARENESS & ACCEPTANCE MONTH
APRIL 2026
WHEREAS, The Civil Rights Act of 1968 (The Fair Housing Act) and the
Fair Housing Amendments Act of 1988 ensure full and fair access to housing
opportunity; and
WHEREAS, shelter is a basic human need and when shelter is denied, the
quality of human life is greatly diminished; and
WHEREAS, housing discrimination and other exclusionary practices can
have a critical impact on socioeconomic outcomes; and
WHEREAS, people must not be denied equal access to and enjoyment of
housing because of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, disability, or familial
status; and
WHEREAS, the City of El Mirage recognizes and values the efforts of those
who seek to identify and eliminate barriers to full and fair housing opportunity; and,
WHEREAS, April is designated as Fair Housing Month.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City of El Mirage proclaims the month of April
as FAIR HOUSING MONTH. The City of El Mirage encourages all citizens to
work for tolerance and equal opportunity in our community.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I, Mayor Alexis A. Hermosillo, have hereunto
set my hand and cause the Seal of the City of El Mirage to be affixed this 7th day
of April 2026.
