REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION

ACTION:  Approve a one-year contract renewal with Reyes & Sons Landscaping, LLC for landscape 
maintenance services for City facilities.
FISCAL IMPACT:  The total cost of the contract will not exceed $140,000. Sufficient funds have been 
appropriated in the Highway User Revenue Fund, Cost Center 3814 (Right-of-Way Maintenance), for 
anticipated expenditures during the current fiscal year and next fiscal year, contingent upon City Council 
approval of the City’s annual budget.
RECOMMENDATION:  Approve the contract renewal.
 
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:  (T23-125-01) City Council approved the contract award on March 
16, 2023, for an initial one-year period with four, one-year renewal options to Reyes & Sons 
Landscaping, LLC for bi-monthly landscape maintenance services. This is the third of four, one-year 
renewal options.
All services performed under this contract will be in accordance with Chapter 13A of the Tempe City 
Code relating to Environmental Programs and Standards. The Contractor’s employees operate battery-
powered blowers and trimmers to complete the maintenance services.
The contracted services are provided to Tempe Fire Medical Rescue Stations, Elderly Housing Units, 
Tempe Adult Day Health Care, and several other locations. The fixed scheduled services include the 
maintenance and care of trees, ground cover, and shrubs, maintenance and repairs to irrigation 
systems, along with general cleanup, and pest and weed control. Reyes & Sons utilizes environmentally 
friendly weed control products typically used under Integrated Pest Control Management plans, rather 
than environmentally harmful chemicals.
