BACKGROUND INFORMATION: (WUD24-037-01, 02) City Council approved the contract award
on March 7, 2024, for an initial two-year period with three, one-year renewal options to Foster Electric
Motor Service, Inc., and Scott’s Arizona Electric Motor Repair PM, LLC dba PumpMan Phoenix for the
purchase, maintenance and repair of variable frequency drives (VFDs).
This is the first of three, one-year renewal options. Public Works maintains various sizes and types of
VFDs, which control the speed of motors that pump water and chemicals throughout the utility.
VFDs are also used at various Parks facilities such as well sites. This contract covers various sizes and
types of VFDs which control the speed of motors that pump water and chemicals throughout the water
system. These contracts supplement staff capabilities to perform repairs and supply critical parts for
these assets and provide a supplemental source for parts in addition to the contracts awarded under
WUD25-006, which allows the City greater flexibility of sourcing the critical components of these assets
when needed.
The performance of the contractors was rated by City staff as follows:
