REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION

ACTION:  Approve one-year contract renewals to James Cooke & Hobson, Inc., Phoenix Pumps, Inc., 
and Scott’s Arizona Electric Motor Repair PM, LLC dba PumpMan Phoenix for the purchase and repair 
of chemical and water pump services.
FISCAL IMPACT:  The total cost of these contracts will not exceed $750,000. Sufficient funds have 
been appropriated in the Water and Wastewater Fund, Cost Centers 3013 (Johnny G. Martinez W.T.P.), 
3014 (South Tempe W.T.P.), 3016 (Water Field Facilities), 3034 (Kyrene W.R.F.), 3035 (Wastewater 
Field Facilities) and 3007 (Tempe Town Lake Operations and Maintenance) for the anticipated 
expenditures in the current fiscal year and future fiscal year, contingent upon City Council approval of 
the City’s annual budget.
RECOMMENDATION:  Approve the contract renewals.
 
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:  (WUD24-038-01, 02, 03) City Council approved the contract 
award on March 7, 2024, for an initial two-year period with three, one-year renewal options to James 
Cooke & Hobson, Inc., Phoenix Pumps, Inc., and Scott’s Arizona Electric Motor Repair PM, LLC dba 
PumpMan Phoenix for the purchase of chemical dosing pumps and water and wastewater pumps, and 
to provide services such as performing preventative maintenance, repairs and testing to supplement in 
house staff capabilities. This is the first of three, one-year renewal options.
