REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION

ACTION:  Approve one-year contract renewals to Advanced Chemical Transport, Inc., Graymar 
Environmental Services, Inc., and Kary Environmental Services, Inc., for the classification, 
transportation, and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous materials and emergency response 
materials cleanup..
FISCAL IMPACT:  The total cost of these contracts will not exceed $700,000. Sufficient funds have 
been appropriated in the Water and Wastewater Fund, Cost Center 3044 (Environmental - Haz 
Materials) for anticipated expenditures during the current fiscal year and future fiscal years, contingent 
upon City Council approval of the City’s annual budget.
RECOMMENDATION:  Approve the contract renewals.
 
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:  (T24-058-01, 02, 03) City Council approved the contract award 
on March 21, 2024, for an initial two-year period with three, one-year renewal options to Advanced 
Chemical Transport, Inc, Graymar Environmental Services, Inc. and Kary Environmental Services, Inc., 
for the classification, transportation and disposal of hazardous materials. This is the first of three, one-
year renewal options.
 
Services provided by these contracts supplement staff capacity to address hazardous and non- 
hazardous materials including waste generated at multiple City of Tempe facilities, the City’s Household 
Products Collection Center (HPCC) and emergency response spill cleanups.  These contracts support 
Tempe’s staff capacity to ensure proper treatment, storage and disposal of hazardous waste as 
regulated by the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act.
