1 Resolution No. R2026.20 RESOLUTION NO. R2026.20 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPE, ARIZONA, APPROVING THE SUBMISSION OF THE CITY OF TEMPE'S APPLICATIONS FOR FUNDS FROM THE AK-CHIN INDIAN COMMUNITY. WHEREAS, Arizona Revised Statutes § 5-601.02 authorizes the State of Arizona and Arizona tribes to enter into gaming contracts and permits the establishment of the Ak-Chin Indian Community State Shared Revenue program that provides funds to eligible applicants such as cities, towns and counties for government services that benefit the general public, including public safety, mitigation of gaming impacts, and the promotion of commerce and economic development; and WHEREAS, the Ak-Chin Indian Community is offering grants to cities, towns, or counties under their state shared revenue agreement, and WHEREAS, the City of Tempe desires to seek gaming grant funds from the Ak-Chin Indian Community with the funds used to support the programs listed below as further set forth in the applications: 1. College Connect Tempe. College Connect Tempe (Program), a community collaboration that increases access to post-secondary opportunities for Tempe’s youth. Grant request in the amount of Twenty- Four Thousand Nine Hundred Forty-Nine ($24,949.00) Dollars. 2. Dementia & Age Friendly Park. This request will fund the design component of a space within an existing park to create a dementia and age friendly park and allow for the acceleration of creating a space that maintains and improves quality of life, encourages physical activity and social interaction, and provides caregiver respite and stress relief for those experiencing dementia, old age, and their caregivers. Grant request in the amount of One Hundred Fifteen Thousand ($115,00.00) Dollars. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPE, ARIZONA, as follows: 1. That the City of Tempe approves the submission of the City of Tempe's applications for funds from the Ak-Chin Indian Community for the purpose of supporting programs as further set forth in its applications. 2.
