Resolution No. R2026.26 1 RESOLUTION NO. R2026.26 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPE, ARIZONA, AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF THE CITY OF TEMPE'S APPLICATIONS FOR GAMING GRANT FUNDS FROM THE PASCUA YAQUI TRIBE. WHEREAS, Arizona Revised Statutes § 5-601.02 authorizes the State of Arizona and Arizona tribes to enter into gaming grant contracts and permits the establishment of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe State Shared Revenue program that provides funds to eligible applicants such as cities, towns and counties for government services that benefit the general public, including public safety, mitigation of gaming impacts, and the promotion of commerce and economic development; and WHEREAS, the Pascua Yaqui Tribe is offering grants to cities, towns, or counties under their state shared revenue agreement, and WHEREAS, the City of Tempe desires to seek gaming grant funds from the Pascua Yaqui Tribe with the funds used to support the programs listed below as further set forth in the applications: 1. Bridge Shelter Multi-Use Playground. Community Health and Human Services - Housing Services’ newest low-barrier homeless bridge shelter is located at 1915 E. Apache Blvd. and is seeking funding to build a dog run. The dog run will provide a safe and welcoming space for shelter residents and pets to exercise, socialize, and recharge while transitioning to stable housing. Grant request in the amount of Sixty-Three Thousand Two Hundred and Six ($63,206) Dollars. 2. Tempe Center for the Arts Indigenous Programming. Tempe Center for the Arts (TCA) presents two free annual events, Indigena and Native Holiday Market by OXDX, focused on highlighting Indigenous culture and amplifying the reach of Indigenous artists. Grant request in the amount of Ten Thousand ($10,000) Dollars. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPE, ARIZONA, as follows: 1. That the City of Tempe approves the submission of the City of Tempe's applications for funds from the Pascua Yaqui Tribe for the purpose of supporting programs as further set forth in its applications. 2. That the City Manager or their designee is authorized to forward the above approved applications to Pascua Yaqui Tribe.
