OVERVIEW:  
Per City Code Chapter 14A-3(k)(8), one of the HPC's duties and activities is "developing and 
participating in public information activities in order to increase public awareness of the value of historic 
preservation, and performing other functions that will encourage or further historic preservation." The 
Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) requested the opportunity to hold a discussion on strategies 
for encouraging property owners, particularly those with Historic-Eligible properties, to agree to have 
their properties designated in the Tempe Historic Property Register.
This agenda item was postponed from the February 11, 2026, HPC meeting.
