Board Members Present: City Staff Present: Eadie Rudder Alexis Allen, Court Director Judge Kevin Kane, Ex-officio Member Casey Simmons, Administrative Analyst Judge Amy Kalman Christina Villarreal, Court Supervisor* Judy Aldrich, Chair Jennifer Curtiss, Deputy Court Director Martha Ashburn, Vice-Chair Marcos Romero, Administrative Manager* Scott Blum *Attended remotely via Microsoft Teams Public Meeting The public meeting was called to order at 8:30 a.m. by Chairperson Aldrich. 1. Selection of Board Chair and Vice Chair Motion made by Board Member Kalman to nominate Judy Aldrich to be Chair; second by Board Member Blum. Motion passed by a 5-0 vote. Ayes: Board Members Aldrich, Ashburn, Blum, Kalman, Rudder Nays: None Non-Voting: Board Member Kane Abstain: None Absent: None Motion made by Board Member Aldrich to nominate Martha Ashburn to be Vice-Chair; second by Board Member Kalman. Motion passed by a 5-0 vote. Ayes: Board Members Aldrich, Ashburn, Blum, Kalman, Rudder Nays: None Non-Voting: Board Member Kane Abstain: None Absent: None . Consideration of Meeting Minutes: December 10, 2024 Motion made by Board Member Ashburn to approve the public and executive session meeting minutes of December 10, 2024; second by Board Member Kalman. Motion passed on a 4-0 vote. Ayes: Board Members Aldrich, Ashburn, Blum, Kalman Nays: None Non-Voting: Board Member Kane Abstain: Rudder Absent: None 3. Call to the Public Chairperson Aldrich called for public comment. No public comments were made. 4. Motion to Adjourn to Executive Session, pursuant to A.R.S. § 38-431 .03(A)(1) Motion made by Board Member Ashburn to adjourn to Executive Session; Second by Board member Kalman. Motion passed on a 5-0 vote. Ayes: Board members Aldrich, Ashburn, Blum, Kalman, Rudder Nays: None Non-Voting: Board Member Kane Abstain: None Absent: None Executive Session: The Board entered Executive Session at 8:33 a.m. Only Board Members were present except for Ms. Casey Simmons who remained to take meeting minutes and Ms. Alexis Allen who remained to answer questions related to the Presiding Judge recruitment. Confidential minutes were taken and kept separate from these public meeting minutes. Executive Session adjourned and the public meeting was called to order at 9:23 a.m. by Chairperson Aldrich. Public Meeting: Agenda item #1 was recalled : Motion made by board member Kalman to nominate Martha Ashburn to be Vice-Chair; second by Board Member Rudder. Motion passed by a 5-0 vote. The Board announced the interviews will take place at the next JAB meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at 8:30 a.m. A portion of the meeting will be dedicated to public comment. Information on how to provide public comment will be posted to the Tempe Municipal Court website at www.tempe.gov/court. Interviews will be held in-person, with both in-person and virtual options to attend and provide public comment. .
