CITY OF TEMPE Meeting Date: 03/26/2026 REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION Agenda Item: 7B14 ACTION: Approve a one-year contract renewal with West Coast Arborist, Inc. for tree pruning services at various locations throughout the City. FISCAL IMPACT: The total cost of the contract will not exceed $600,000. Sufficient funds have been appropriated in the General Fund, Cost Centers 3141 (Landscape Maintenance), 3253 (Urban Forest), 3762 (TCA Art Parks), 3257 (Park Preserves Maintenance, and Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Project 6309489 (Parks Urban Forest) for anticipated expenditures during the current fiscal year and future fiscal years, contingent upon City Council approval of the City’s annual budget. RECOMMENDATION: Approve the contract renewal. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: (T24-087-01) City Council approved the contract award on May 9, 2024, for an initial two-year period with three, one-year renewal options. This renewal request is the first of three renewal options. This contract provides for the pruning of trees in Downtown Tempe, in right-of-way areas, around City- maintained facilities, City parks and preserve lands on an as-needed basis. This coverage includes the Salt River bottom west of the Tempe Town Lake and the Indian Bend wash located east of the Tempe Town Lake. Contractor Performance The performance of the contractor was evaluated by City staff as shown in the following table: West Coast Arborist, Inc.
