Resolution No. R2026.30 1 RESOLUTION NO. R2026.30 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPE, ARIZONA, DECLARING THE CANVASS OF RESULTS FOR THE CITY OF TEMPE PRIMARY ELECTION HELD ON MARCH 10, 2026. WHEREAS, a Primary Election was held and conducted in the City of Tempe, Arizona, on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, for the purpose of nominating and/or electing candidates to three City Council seats; WHEREAS, by Resolution No. R2025.105, the City of Tempe conducted the March 10, 2026, Primary Election as a ballot-by-mail election; and WHEREAS, it now becomes the duty of the City Council of the City of Tempe, Arizona to canvass the election results of the March 10, 2026, Primary Election. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPE, ARIZONA AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That Exhibit A, attached, is declared and adopted as the official canvass of votes of the March 10, 2026, Primary Election and includes: 1) the overall citywide voter turnout; 2) the number of ballots cast in each precinct and in the city; 3) the number of ballots rejected in each precinct and in the city; 4) the titles of the offices voted for, and the names of each person voted for to fill the offices; and 5) the number of votes by precincts and city received by each candidate and the overall percentage of votes received by each candidate. Section 2. That, as shown in Exhibit A, the total number of ballots cast in the March 10, 2026, Primary Election was 24,275. The total number of registered voters was 85,899, resulting in a 28.26% voter turnout rate. Section 3. That the names of the candidates voted for at the March 10, 2026, Primary Election for the office of City Councilmember were: Jennifer Adams Arlene Chin Joe Forte Berdetta Hodge Bobby Nichols Resolution No. R2026.30 2 Brooke St. George Elvis Taska Section 4. That Arlene Chin received a number of votes greater than the majority vote calculation in the March 10, 2026, Primary Election, is declared elected to the office of City Councilmember, as of the May 19, 2026, General (Runoff) Election, and is hereby issued a certificate of election. Section 5. That there being two City Council seats left to be filled at the May 19, 2026, General (Runoff) Election, Jennifer Adams, Berdetta Hodge, Bobby Nichols, and Brooke St. George, who equal no more than twice the number of candidates for the City Council seats to be filled and who received the highest number of votes, shall be candidates for City Councilmember and have their names placed on the official ballot at the May 19, 2026, General (Runoff) Election. Section 6. That the City Clerk shall enter Exhibit A on the records of the City of Tempe as the official canvass.
